What a great incentive, so cheap too!!!

We understand the real cost pressures facing our community — and when it comes to cat desexing, we know affordability can be a barrier. Desexing remains one of the most important steps in preventing roaming, unwanted litters and supporting animal welfare. 🐾

At BARC, we are continuing to support our community by offering discounted cat desexing programs from just $20.

Available to ALL ELIGIBLE COGB Residents

With a strong focus on supporting those living in priority areas:
Eaglehawk
Golden Square
Kangaroo Flat
California Gully
Heathcote

If you have a cat and are struggling with the cost of desexing, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of this support.

Happy New Year to all my amazing clients!!!

Wishing you all the best in 2026 🥳

I am super honoured to have been able to serve my community in this way all year. I love helping pets feel comfortable and loved in their homes while their parents are away. It also helps my clients feel relaxed on holiday instead of worrying, they know their babies are being cared for and as a Reiki Master it is my pleasure to help others feel more relaxed and supported.

Can't wait to see how much I can expand in 2026.

Let's make it the best year yet.

Lots of Love

Merry Christmas 🎄

Many thanks to all my wonderful clients this year.

It warms my heart to be so loved by so many pets that are not my own ❤️

It has been a pleasure to serve my community in this way. Let's do it all again in 2026.

Lots of Love

Great advice 👍

Parrots CAN live decades… but most don’t. Here’s why.

Parrots are among the longest-lived pets in the world, with some species living 40, 60, or even 80 years or more. However, in captivity, many never reach that age. Not because of disease alone, but because of preventable dangers in the home.

We see it too often:
🐾 Attacks from cats, dogs, or other pets
🚶 Being stepped or sat on
🚽 Drowning in open toilets or sinks
🔥 Toxic fumes from cooking, candles, or cleaners
🥚 Egg binding in females
💧 Aspiration (liquids or food going into the lungs)
🪶 Feather destruction leading to secondary infections
🥑 Toxic foods (like avocado, chocolate, caffeine)
🚪 Flying into windows, doors, or ceiling fans
🧴 Exposure to Teflon/PTFE/PFOA fumes — often fatal within minutes
🍕 Eating people food leading to heart disease
➕ (list not exhaustive)

The truth is, parrots rarely die of “old age” in captivity. Most lives are cut short by accidents, stress, or lack of specialized care.
If you share your life with a parrot, their safety must be a daily priority. Remove hazards, learn avian first aid (we have an avian first aid list if you want one), schedule regular vet visits, and never underestimate how fragile (yet clever) these incredible family members are.

Together, we can change the odds and let more parrots grow old with the families who love them.
