First week is done and the puppies have doubled in size- 2 of the boys have cracked 800g today! Coco is taking great care of them but we are supplementing 3 times a day. The puppies get weighed before and after each bottle so we can be sure nobody is falling behind. The week has been long, and the days and the nights go quick- strange but true. The puppies got a tiny taste of fresh air and went outside for photos this afternoon!

Spring has arrived and so has Rustys Captain Kid! Welcome to Rocky Creek kiddo and big thank you to Jenny and Paul from Rusty Amber Labradoodles for sending him down to us! We have high hopes for him and he really is a dream puppy so far- confident, happy, eats well and slept through his first night in a crate in our bedroom like an angel. We hope Kiddo might become a little stud one day. We’d love him to have his very own family in or close to the Yarra Valley- and he would like that too. He is medium in size, red in colour and carries some new lines for us as well as a precious old RC one. Please reach out if you would like to know more about how our breeding programme works- [email protected]

And here they are in all their newborn sweetness- Coco and Leo’s 11!
Everyone is doing well. Coco is enjoying meals in bed and watches us weigh her puppies and supervises us if we need to supplement anyone- video proof of her supervision coming later!
Red collar boy was the smallest born at 202 grams so we are making sure he gets his share!

Last weekend as friends at Rocky Creek! Elsa and Willow are heading home this week. This weekend they’ve spent time with Boo the cat. Boo very graciously shared his toys with them! They also had a visit to the beer garden at Healesville Hotel and enjoyed some cuddles. Today they had some visitors in the morning and have been practicing come and sit this afternoon. Come mid week it’s going to be very quiet around here!

And our 2nd spring litter has quite a story behind it. Lovely Cedar, aka RC Cinnamon Twist, is the great great grandaughter of Saffron Queen who has just turned 16, so it’s a very sentimental litter and much looked forward to by us. We’d planned to breed Cedar to Max (RC Fox on the Rox), but he just wanted to play in the friend zone. So plan B swung into action. Those who have followed us for a while would remember we imported and did quite a few frozen inseminations in our earlier days. We had some semen from Aussie L’s Lil Rudolph aka Rudy, that had been collected in Canada in 2014. We used some on Scarlet in 2016, but she didn’t get pregnant. We’ve had it safely frozen away ever since. Cedar had her ultrasound yesterday following the enaction of plan B and we are pretty elated to confirm that we have 6 + little beauties due to arrive September 14th. As they say- it takes a village and we are grateful to everyone who has made this possible!

So grateful to the Australian Labradoodle Association for safeguarding this remarkable dog!

The Australian Labradoodle - A Proven Legacy of Temperament and Purpose

From time to time, prospective owners ask whether other Australian Labradoodle derived breeds are “better” suited for therapy, assistance work or family life. The simple answer is that these qualities have always been fundamental goals of responsible Australian Labradoodle breeding.

The Australian Labradoodle was purposefully developed over many generations to produce dogs with exceptional temperaments, intelligence, trainability and sound health. These characteristics are not recent innovations—they are the very foundation upon which the breed has been carefully developed for close to three decades.

Many Australian Labradoodles bred by ALA members have gone on to become therapy dogs, assistance dogs, education support dogs, detection dogs and, most importantly, cherished family companions. Their success reflects generations of thoughtful breeding decisions, extensive health testing, careful puppy raising and responsible placement into suitable homes.

The ALA respects that different breeders and organisations may choose different breeding philosophies or directions. Rather than suggesting one is inherently superior to another, we believe prospective owners should look at the evidence: the health practices, temperament, breeder ethics, lifelong support and the consistency achieved over generations.

For almost 30 years, the Australian Labradoodle has earned its reputation through proven performance, dedicated breeders and thousands of remarkable dogs enriching the lives of families around the world. We remain proud custodians of that legacy and committed to its future.

Elsa, Rosie and Willow have had a good day! 0.6 degrees and fog this morning- no worries the puppies loved it. The fog lifted, the skies were blue and the puppies practiced leash walking and met the donkeys. They enjoyed catching some sunshine until the evening coldness set in. It’s the first day of the last month of winter today, I’m excited that spring is just around the corner- even the wattle is starting to flower!
