New therapy for canine elbow arthritis.

The clinical trial is underway, with 10 new places now available.

We’re looking for dogs with confirmed elbow arthritis and lameness predominantly affecting one front limb.

The trial runs for three months, with all study-related costs covered.

In collaboration with Dr Matthew Ray at , participation is based at Westernport Veterinary Clinic in Hastings.

🐾 Meet Butters! 🐾

Butters the Poodle recently visited our Hastings clinic to have his ears examined.

We couldn’t get over how handsome he looked after his fresh groom, complete with a very fancy bandana!

Butters was also on his best behaviour, impressing Dr. Abbey with his excellent sit and handshake. 🐩💙

🐾 Introducing Dr Ruth! 🩺

Ruth graduated in 2023 and joined the WVC team in 2026. She has special interests in internal medicine, soft-tissue surgery, oncology and geriatric care. Ruth also participates in the West Arnhem Land Dog Health Program (WALDHeP), supporting the health and wellbeing of dogs in remote communities.

Outside the clinic, Ruth lives locally with her Kelpie–Border Collie cross, Frodo. She loves the beach, watching a good movie or comedy show with friends, and has a keen interest in ice hockey! 🏒🎬🌊

Keeping our dogs safe from bird flu 🐦🐕

With H5 bird flu now detected in Victoria, it’s a good time to take a few extra precautions when enjoying our beaches and leash-free parks.

🐾 Keep dogs away from sick or dead birds — don’t let them sniff, lick, mouth or pick them up.
🦮 If you spot a sick or dead bird, put your dog back on lead and move away.
📍 Record the location and, if safe, take a photo — but don’t touch or move the bird.
📞 Report sick or dead birds to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline: 1800 675 888.

A few simple precautions can help keep our dogs, wildlife and community safer. ❤️

Congratulations to Dr Britt and her Mornington Bulldogs teammates on their incredible Grand Final win! 🏆🐾

Britt plays for the MPFNL Division 1 Women’s Reserve team and has trained and played hard all season. We’re thrilled to see her team’s dedication rewarded with a fantastic grand final win over Warragul on the weekend.

Meet our pet Mondays.

Gus is our vet nurse Jess’s dog. Jess adopted Gus when he was just one year old. Now he is six year’s old, but he is still the same big, goofy American Staffy cross with endless energy and a huge personality.

Give him a caravan, a campfire and a beach, and he’s in heaven — especially when there’s a stick involved. Naturally, it has to be the biggest one he can drag out of the water! 🌊🪵

Gus’s most important role is being best friends with Nurse Jess’s toddler. He is gentle, loyal and never more than a step away, he always stays as close as he possibly can.

From a stray to treasured companion, Gus has found exactly where he belongs. ❤️
