🐾 Meet Dr Fiona! 🐾

We’re excited to welcome Dr Fiona to the team at Murgon Vets! Fiona lives locally and is now permanently based at our Murgon clinic, where she is looking forward to caring for pets and livestock throughout the South Burnett region.

Fiona graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from James Cook University in 2024, but her journey in the veterinary industry began much earlier. She started working as a veterinary nurse in 2016 right here in the South Burnett before heading off to pursue her veterinary studies.

Growing up on properties in far South-West Queensland, becoming a mixed rural veterinarian was always the goal. Fiona enjoys working with both large and small animals, with particular interests in horses and cattle.

When she’s not at work, Fiona can usually be found spending time with her own horses, cattle and dogs, or enjoying a spot of water skiing whenever she gets the chance.

🐾 Walter visited us recently for his puppy vaccinations, and honestly, this is exactly why puppy appointments are one of our favourite types of visits. 💙

Just look at that face! Those floppy ears, those puppy-dog eyes, and the confidence of someone who clearly thinks he owns the place already. 🐶

Walter was an absolute superstar for his visit, soaking up all the attention and making it very difficult for our team to remember that he actually belongs with his family and not here at the clinic.

We’re pleased to report that we resisted the temptation to keep him (just!), and he went home after his vaccinations with his rightful owners. 😉

Thanks for brightening our day, Walter. We can’t wait to see you again!

Mack the 80kg Irish Wolfhound stopped by today for his revisit appointment after a brief hospital stay with us earlier in the week — and we’re happy to say he’s back to his normal self! 🐾💙

Judging by this photo, Dr Caitlin may need a step ladder for her next consult… or at least a saddle 😂

It’s not every day your patient is almost taller than you! Great to see you feeling better, Mack.

Meet 13-week-old Australian Koolie, Koda 🐾💙

Koda recently came in for his full health check and puppy consult shortly after joining his new family. These early visits are so important to help owners understand how to best care for their puppy as they grow.

While he was here, Koda received his puppy vaccinations and started his parasite prevention program. With us recently seeing a large number of tick cases, keeping your pets up to date with parasite prevention is more important than ever.

Last week, some of our incredible team travelled to the Gold Coast to represent Gympie Vets at the annual APIAM Leadership Conference 🐾

Representing our clinic were Dr Dan, Clinic Coordinator Di, Nurse Annette, Dr Emily, Nurse Courtney, and Dr Shayne.

We’re especially proud of Dr Dan and Dr Emily, who spoke on a panel discussing how we can continue raising the standard of patient care within the clinic. Nurse Annette and Nurse Courtney also shared their knowledge and experience on a panel focused on how empowering and utilising our nursing team benefits both our patients and our wider clinic team.

Opportunities like these allow our team to learn, collaborate, and bring new ideas back to our clinic — all with the goal of continuing to provide the highest level of care to our patients and clients ❤️

This weekend we not only celebrated the ANZAC spirit but also the annual International Vet Day!

We’re celebrating the incredible veterinarians making up our teams at Gympie Vets, Murgon Vets & Tin Can Bay Vets 💙

These amazing people are the backbone of our clinic and we are so lucky to have such a diverse and well experienced team.

We’ve got animal lovers, problem-solvers, surgery enthusiasts, early risers, late stayers, and all-round legends who bring their own unique skills, interests, and personalities to the clinic every single day. They continuously sacrifice so that they can provide the best service of care to you and your pets both big and small!

From cuddling nervous patients to tackling tricky surgeries, answering all your questions, and keeping everything running smoothly—there’s a whole lot of heart, knowledge and intention behind what we do.

🐣🌸 Happy Easter from all of us at the clinic! 🌸🐣

While you’re enjoying the chocolate eggs and sweet treats this upcoming weekend don’t forget—chocolate is toxic to our furry friends 🐶🍫

We know how hard it is to resist those begging puppy eyes… Miss Poppy has perfected the look 👀💛 But trust us, those sweet stares can quickly turn into a very different kind of side eye when they end up needing a vet visit!

Just ask Chloe… who had to come in for treatment after sneaking some chocolate and wasn’t too impressed about having to make a return appearance to… well… give it back 🤢🐾

Keep chocolate safely out of reach this Easter and stick to pet-friendly treats instead. A little prevention means a much happier holiday for everyone—especially your pups! 🐕💐
