MarLou Stud We are a horse breeding enterprise, specialising in the producing of Arabian, Waler & ArabianXWalers

MarLou Stud is a boutique horse breeding enterprise, specialising in the producing of Arabian, Waler and ArabianXWaler Horses. Located in Greta, North East Victoria, Australia the Stud is owned and managed by husband and wife team Ryan and Louise Mackey and assisted by Louise’s parents Maree and Greg Pearce. We compete predominantly in Endurance Horse Riding but do not limit our breeding expectations to this discipline only. Our breeding focuses on producing strong horses of excellent quality with great temperaments. With each breed we try to achieve a horse that has good hooves, exceptional conformation, stamina, a highly trainable demeanour and who will mature 15.2hh+. We currently breed two Stallions to our own broodmares only, but are looking to offer services to outside mares starting 2024. We stand a Purebred High Percentage Crabbet Arabian, Jena-Lea Azraf who is 15.2hh, as well as a Purebred Historic Waler, MarLou Legacy who is 16hh. Breeding sporadically for the past 11 years we have now refined and distinguished our breed type and will over the coming years continue to focus on elevating this to produce World Class equine athletes. MarLou Stud places a high priority on breeding for quality over quantity and produces just 2-4 foals each year. Although, we are still very much establishing our stud our horses are starting to speak for themselves with successes in New Zealand, Tasmania and of course the Mainland. We look forward to continuing to grow and invite you to ask us any further questions, organise a farm visit or discuss potential partnership or sponsorship opportunities.

Big weekend of weaning babies. They all did super well and have settled in nicely. Between the two of us (Ryan & myself) we led 5 babies, 3 older babes and Billy from the top weaning paddock to their Spring paddock. Nil tantrums (even walking past their Mums’ paddock). They all handled themselves so well. Looking forward to watching them grow after a long Winter ❤️

So excited to announce the safe arrival of our first 2026 beauty! A little filly born in the early hours of Saturday morning. She is by Waler Stallion - MarLou Legacy out of purebred Arab Mare - MarLou Park Delta Dawn. She’s already opinionated and demanding when it comes to scratches but we wouldn’t have her any other way. Welcome MarLou Pia ❤️❤️

MarLou Stud was out and about again, attending this time and for the first time a Kim Daley clinic over in Kyneton. Not knowing entirely what to expect we opted to take our ever faithfuls Billy and Cas. We throughly enjoyed the clinic and came away with so much learned, new friends and definitely some new tools for the toolbox 😊 Thanks Kez for the clinic venue, Meagan for organising the clinic, Kim for passing on his expertise and the other attendees for a fabulous weekend! Already looking forward to the next one 🐎

Huge day here at MarLou Stud. We had the wonderful and expert Dr Zoe of Murray Valley Equine Dental Vet come out and tend to some of our beauties. Four wolf teeth down and I’m proud to say our youngsters Banbrook and Myuna handled themselves very well for their first time. We had two Stallions also treated and finished with our lovely broodmares. Thanks to Mum and Dad who were her to help which made the day go pretty smooth . I think we will all sleep well tonight! 😴
