🐎🐎🐎 IMPORTANT NOTICE 🐎🐎🐎🐎

Running a small business comes with plenty of costs that unfortunately don’t disappear just because they’re inconvenient.

Recently, we’ve had clients choose to no longer use us because of our fuel levy and late payment fees. While we respect everyone’s right to choose who they use, we also want to explain why these charges exist.

The fuel levy isn’t about making extra money. Fuel prices and the cost of travelling to appointments continue to rise. We travel to provide a mobile farrier service, and those costs are outside of our control. Without a fuel levy, that increasing expense simply comes directly out of the business.

Late payment fees are also completely avoidable. When we complete the work, we have already supplied our time, labour, fuel and materials. We still have bills, suppliers and business expenses that need to be paid on time, regardless of whether an invoice owed to us has been paid.

We don’t believe it is unreasonable to expect an invoice to be paid by its due date.

It is disappointing to lose clients because we enforce clearly stated business terms, particularly when those terms exist because of costs and payment issues that are outside of our control.

We understand that everyone is feeling the pressure of rising costs — small businesses are feeling it too.

We will continue to provide professional, reliable farrier services while running our business in a way that is sustainable and fair.

If our pricing, fuel levy or payment terms don’t suit someone, we completely respect their decision to use another farrier. But we won’t apologise for putting policies in place that protect our business, our time and our livelihood.

Good clients deserve good service, and good businesses deserve to be paid on time.

Lately we have had some interesting jobs and have had some great results by thinking outside the circle and doing what is best for our equine friends. In doing so we haven’t been able to get back to messages as quickly as we normally do. We appreciate everyone’s patience

A little heads up for our amazing community 💙

We've been incredibly busy lately, with a large number of urgent and emergency call-outs alongside our usual routine appointments. While we're doing everything we can to fit everyone in, our routine, non-urgent bookings are now filling around 4 weeks in advance.

If your horse is due for a dental, vaccinations, an annual health check or any other routine care in the next month or so, we'd recommend getting in touch sooner rather than later so you don't miss out on your preferred timeframe.

If you're able to bring your horse to our clinic in Balnagowan, we can often offer appointments much sooner than our mobile service. Plus, you'll receive 10% off dental appointments and in clinic consults, with no travel fee.

Booking is easy! You can:
• Call or text us
• Send us a message on Facebook
• Or book your appointment online anytime: https://pawsapp.com.au/ba?cid=6090

Thank you so much for your patience, understanding and continued support. We know waiting isn't ideal, and we truly appreciate everyone being so accommodating while we make sure every horse, whether it's a planned visit or an emergency, gets the care they need. 💙

Being a farrier isn’t just “coming to do the feet.”
It’s a physical, technical, dangerous job, with huge overhead, responsibilities, and constraints.
So no, respect doesn’t stop at saying hello.

1️⃣ You present a dirty horse

Feet caked in mud, a soaking wet horse, dirt stuck everywhere…
It damages our tools, makes the job harder, increases the risk of slipping, and reduces precision.
Would you go to the gynecologist with a dirty ass or to the dentist with bad breath? No…
(and if the answer is yes, you have a problem 😂)
It’s the same for your pony: when it’s time for their hoof appointment, their feet should be presentable.

2️⃣ You don’t bring your horse in

If your farrier has to run around the field to catch your horse, that’s not normal.
Some people may accept it, but that’s not our job.
We come to work, not to be the groom.

3️⃣ You present a dangerous horse without warning

We will always try to adapt when a horse is sore, worried, or struggling.
But a dangerous horse that kicks, pulls away, lashes out, or is unhandled without any warning is a different matter.
We work around the feet: one kick can be devastating.
Knowingly putting us in danger is not acceptable.

4️⃣ You force us to work in an unsuitable area

You want precision?
Then you need to provide the right conditions: flat, stable, clean ground, and a sheltered place to work.
We cannot do good work on uneven ground, in the wind, or in the mud.

5️⃣ You send messages at any hour

Not having office hours does not mean being available 24/7.
We have a life, a body that needs recovery, a family, and admin to deal with.
And even in an emergency, it’s not going to be solved at 11 p.m. on a Sunday.

6️⃣ You don’t pay your invoices on time

Our bills are due on fixed dates.
Our suppliers, insurance, fuel, equipment — everything has to be paid.
So when you delay payment, it’s not “just forgetting.”
You directly penalize the tradesperson.
Ask yourself one thing: how long would you accept working without being paid?
