Taut is living the dream with YR Lucy . He adores her already and comes cantering to the gate when he sees her.

Lucy’s mum, Kelly is so grateful, she says -
“We are so thankful to the Equorum team for entrusting us with this beautiful boy. It’s clear that they genuinely care about every horse and take great pride in matching them with the right rider.

The Equorum team was incredibly honest throughout the process, happily answered my million questions, and had several horses available for us to view that they felt might be suitable.

We certainly weren’t expecting to welcome another family member so soon after the loss of my daughter’s horse, but after a ride on Taut You Could and seeing their shared love of jumping, it was impossible to say no to bringing him home with us.

He stepped off the float at home like a seasoned professional and quietly explored his paddock as though he’d been here all along. He runs up to Lucy for a cuddle every time he sees her, loves neck scratches and kisses, and has already become a much-loved member of the family.
Lucy absolutely adores him and is excited to see where their journey together leads. They’re planning to be out competing in the coming months once they’ve had some time to get to know each other, and complete a saddle fitting, dental and body work for a base line.

Taut competed in several 80 cm EA Horse trials including MI3DE in 2024 where he scored highly in the OTT Rising Stars class, with talented rider Rory Hamilton ( he was a rider for Equorum before heading to UK to continue his own eventing career)

Equorum has a number of OTT horses ready for their new home and others not far off.
They strive to match the horses with the right rider and want the best homes for their retrainers.

🏇🏻How did you hear about Equorum OTT horses for sale?
🗣️I heard about Equorum through a friend of a friend who knew Sarah.

🏇🏻Did you look at more than one horse at Equorum or was your horse the only one?
🗣️I looked at 3 other horses on the day but after watching Locky being ridden he was the one I wanted to ride.

🏇🏻Did you have a wish list when you went looking for a new horse , such as age, s*x, height , colour , experience?
🗣️My wish list was at least 16hh, young (5-7). I was preferring a mare initially but once I rode him my mind was changed. All I really wanted was a quiet good temperament horse that doesn't shy and that's exactly what I got

🏇🏻How long did it take for your horse to settle at your place and was there a trial period or something if it didn’t work out ?
🗣️From the day I adopted him Sarah told me if for any reason he didn't work out or I just couldn't keep him he could come back, no time was put on that.
It took approximately month for him to settle in, he was initially a little overwhelmed by his new environment but I did heaps of groundwork to help him relax.

🏇🏻How professional was the sale?
🗣️From the first phone call to Sarah I had nothing but professionalism. She couldn't have been more helpful. I told her what I was after and She sent videos and pictures of all 3 horses she thought would work for me.

🏇🏻Did you receive paperwork etc about your new horse ?
🗣️ I received adoption paperwork, some of his history and everything he had done since being at Equorum which included his daily feed routine, when feet, teeth and worming was last done and how he behaved having all those thing done. Also a couple of photos from just being in paddock.

🏇🏻How did you find the experience to go and try and buy ?
🗣️Experience was so easy. I rode him on a Saturday (which Sarah couldn't be there) but both boys Rory and Stuart were there and very helpful. After a 20 minute ride on Locky I asked Rory about another one and he said " he might be too spooky for you" so I didn't bother. I rang Sarah that night to organise another ride, we worked out a date and I took my float. The day before I left I msgd Sarah to ask if he'd floated before, she said no but he'll be fine. He walked straight on and didn't move for over 2 hours!

🏇🏻Tell us a little about your initial experience with him at home
🗣️There has been a few teething problems as with all new horses, just getting to know and trust each other. He's a sensitive soul and very cuddly. He'd never been in an indoor but he rode it like a champ. He is such a pleasure to be around. He has never let me down in a ride, he's got the best temperament and always gives it his best without complaining. He's very fast at picking up new training moves. When I first rode him Rory said he is very "looky" but doesn't do anything with it, he was spot on! He's a bloody sticky nose, has to look at everything that's going on and loses concentration but we've now resolved that with a noise reducing bonnet. He is the best boy and I'm so happy with him

🗣️He has the best temperament. I have lessons with Amanda Mitchell on Tuesdays and everytime she has a ride she can't believe the amazing temperament he has

One of our racing team has returned to us for pre-training. First day back in work and this is how she goes! If all thoroughbreds were given such a great foundation life after racing would be so much easier for them!

Taut is a kind and loving horse and
would be a great mount for a confident teen or adult looking to produce a horse through the levels. Easy horse to have around with a really sweet personality.
He can really jump and is bold and gives you that “lock onto the jump “ feel , he is brave and confident over a fence so he needs a rider who feels comfortable jumping with some power

He will stand relaxed and in “ park” and he isn’t the fidgety type
He really wants “his person “ to love him and have a journey together
This was only the second time the young rider in the photos and video had ridden him. She felt he was calm, and relaxed and although he is tall he isn’t too wide to sit on so your leg can hang softly down
We did a bit of desensitising testing with him by moving the riders leg around and using different pressure on the reins ( we have some the video .but FB won’t allow both photo and video on this post ) He didn’t take offence at all and tolerated the differences in the aids
So whilst he is calm he isn’t over sensitive but can occasionally dart forward if he gets a spook from behind him,but it is short lived and almost anti climax and he then continues on in his usual relaxed manner.
Currently in light work, fully shod and on hard feed and good hay
He will polish up and look a amazing with the right person

A sneak peak of two OTT horses for sale
One is a pretty boy who would excel in the show ring and OTT Dressage and the other is a super Event prospect with consistent performance results

EHR Pascal is one of those eye catching characters who would not look out of place as a stunning statue on the mantle piece
He is an bright bay 8 yo gelding by “So You Think.” 16.1hh, super impressive handsome horse and a very easy keeper! No vices, easy to wash, trim, shoe & float. Loves attention & being pampered & fussed over. Showing above average talent in his flatwork and is a natural over a jump.
Would Really would suit a rider wanting to go places with a very talented and eye catching horse for eventing, dressage or showing!

Clean up day at the farm after the chaos of the last few days, fences getting fixed tomorrow and hopefully power back on sooner rather than later and we will be able to start relocating all our beautiful horses back home to Equorum!

It’s still a bit Smokey here but calm conditions have seen the fires downgraded to a watch and act in our area.

Roads are still blocked due to the enormous gums that are still smouldering and at risk of falling but local residents are able to get in via the back dirt roads.

Lots to do but we have been so incredibly lucky to come away from this ordeal relatively unscathed!

Our hearts go out to everyone who lost houses, stock and farmland. Equorum in conjunction with our wonderful farm contractor Cathkin Farm Services has already & will be helping out our neighbors who lost their farms with some donations from the farm of hay and silage.

A little joy this morning with the arrival of Sonatas baby (she was one of our first evacuees off the farm) Endless thank yous to Nooralim - Emma and Brad for opening your doors to us and midwife duties!! 🥰🙏
