I speak about this in my gear talk. People often use a French link or similiar to avoid the “nutcracker” but it’s not the be all and end all. Close one door open another!
❓️Did you think a double jointed could do this?
Seeing as you all seem to think its actually attached to a bridle and fitted to the horse. Please note that the bit is being held in place for the photo. Theres no pulling in any wrong direction its just held there...
I was sent this by a client and found it very interesting how the double joint can interfere with the lip structure.
A lot of horses I see have some kind of lip trauma and its easy to see why when the joints of a double jointed bit sits on the lip.
So now not only does this bit give tongue pressure but its now adding extra pressure to the lip that wouldn't normally come from the cannons. This increases nipping and pinching.
