*****RESCUE HENS-SOME THINGS I"M ASKED AND FAQS**********

WHAT BREED AND COLOUR ARE THEY? They are all brown in colour and they are what is known as "Commercial Browns" IE: ISA, S*x Link, Hyline, Lohman, Bonds etc - they are all based on the same cross however names, are TRADE NAMES

ARE THEY HEALTHY? VACCINATED AND WORMED? Absolutely all the Ladies are FULLY vaccinated and wormed up to date. They are completely clean with no mites or lice. They have been in nearly quarantine conditions their entire life and cannot give anything to your current birds

HOW OLD ARE THEY? They are approximately 14 mths on first moult, so this means they have layed one cycle from Point Of Lay (POL) and are about to come on their "second lay"- this is definitely something you need to ask your "Rescuer" or "Rehomer" as most are a LOT older than my Ladies

DO THEY/ARE THEY LAYING? Some are, most aren't as previously discussed hens don't lay whilst they are moulting and that is why egg farms turn them over. However they will reward you with lots of eggs for many many years to come as soon as they adjust to a happy life and this can be a turn around of 2-6 weeks approx depending on time of year (Hens don't lay much in Winter - Day/Light hours are too short)

DO THEY HAVE FEATHERS OR WHY DO THEY LOOK SO BAD? Some have more than others and some of the more "Naked" or "PJ Ladies" as we like to call them continue to lay as they haven't put in any effort into feather growth verse egg production

Check out Soap McTavish! He is a young quiet rooster looking for a new home near Toowoomba ๐Ÿ

He was born early December 2025 and is a splash silkie cross with a bielefelder & a mad mullet! He was timid due to being bullied but when he did have time with the girls in the flock he was tid bitting. He is a little smaller than a normal size rooster. Probably between the size of a silkie and a hyline brown. Please message us direct for adoption info

Poor old Mr Gray needs a new home as he has decided he canโ€™t possibly live in peace with the many other roosters that call here home. He is stunning, not sure of the breed but he loves his girls very much and will require a one rooster home ๐Ÿ
