🐾 A friendly reminder about stray animals 🐾
We understand that finding a stray animal can be stressful, and of course everyone wants to make sure they are safe. We’re always happy to help where we can.
However, healthy stray animals are not the responsibility of our veterinary clinic.
If you bring a healthy stray animal to us, we can:
Scan them for a microchip.
Contact the registered owner if a microchip is found.
Provide appropriate advice on the next steps.
What we cannot do is house or board healthy stray animals while an owner is being located. We are a veterinary clinic, not a boarding kennel, and we simply do not have the space or facilities to hold stray animals.
If no owner can be contacted, the appropriate place for a healthy stray is the local pound. We know there can be some hesitation about taking animals to the pound, but pounds serve an important purpose and their staff work hard to keep stray animals safe, cared for and reunited with their owners.
Please remember that bringing a healthy stray animal to a veterinary clinic does not mean the clinic can take responsibility for housing it.
We are always happy to help with microchip scanning and advice, but we also need to ensure we can continue providing care to the animals who are our patients. ❤️
We also kindly ask that our staff are treated with the same respect and kindness that we show to you and your animals. Our team is here to help within the limits of what our clinic can provide. Abuse, harassment, aggression or disrespect towards our staff will not be tolerated. We understand that people can be worried or frustrated when it comes to a stray animal, but please remember that our staff are doing their best to help and are simply following the policies and limitations of our clinic.
