🐾 SUNDAY IS FOR THE DADS! 🐾

With Father’s Day this Sunday, there’ll be no Dog Adoption Day this weekend.

Our volunteers give up a LOT of their weekends for the dogs, so this Sunday we’re giving them the chance to spend the day with the dads, grandads, husbands and other important blokes in their lives. 💜

But while Adoption Day is taking the weekend off, our dogs are still very much looking for homes - and as we shared earlier this week, we’ve got a full house again! 🐶

So while you’re kicking back with Dad this weekend, have a scroll through our freshly updated Available Dogs album.

You never know who might catch your eye. 😍

And a reminder because we get asked this one a LOT:

With Father’s Day this Sunday, we thought Saturday was the perfect time to introduce you to some of the handsome fellas currently waiting for homes. 😎🐱

Yesterday you met our Cat of the Week, Kai - a big, beautiful boy with serious bloke-cat energy.

But Kai isn’t the only eligible bachelor in the building. 😂

We’ve got some gorgeous boys waiting to meet their people - different ages, different personalities and varying opinions on how much of the couch belongs to them.

So whether you’re a dad looking for a new mate, shopping for Dad (with his permission, obviously 😂), or simply think your household could use another bloke - come and meet the boys this Saturday. 💛

Meet Kai - a big, beautiful boy with some serious bloke-cat energy. 😂🖤

You know the type. Big unit. Likes his comforts. Happy to lounge around looking mildly unimpressed with everyone. But underneath it all? An absolute softie.

Kai is a gorgeous, loving boy who enjoys affection and would make a wonderful companion. He’s also family friendly, so while we reckon he'd make a brilliant mate for someone looking for a big laid-back fella to hang out with, he certainly doesn't discriminate. 💛

And just look at him - he’s basically a giant, cuddly black panther with his own recliner. 😂

Not long ago we were celebrating having just a handful of dogs in our care. Things can change pretty quickly in rescue, and we’ve now got quite the crew looking for homes again. 🐶

🐾 GIBSON’S BACK… AND STILL WAITING 🐾

Our Dog of the Week Gibson is making another appearance - because somehow, this lovable, energetic boy still hasn’t found his people. 💛

Gibson is a Kelpie X with plenty of energy, plenty of personality and a whole lot of affection to give. He’d suit an experienced dog owner who can continue his training and give him the exercise, stimulation and room to move that a boy like Gibson needs.

And if Gibson isn’t quite your match, come and meet the rest of the crew this Sunday - we currently have dogs of all sorts, big and small, waiting for the right homes. 🐕🐾

🐾 LAST LITTER PROGRAM 🐾

Unexpected litter?

You’re not alone - and there is support available.

If your dog has had a litter of puppies and you’re unable to care for them, Gladstone Animal Rescue Group can help.

Through our Last Litter Program, you can surrender the entire litter into our care, and once mum has finished feeding, we’ll arrange for her to be desexed at no cost to you.

This program helps:

• Prevent future unplanned litters
• Keep mum and puppies safe
• Reduce the number of unwanted puppies entering rescue
• Support responsible outcomes for everyone involved

We regularly see large litters of puppies coming into care, so programs like this can make a huge difference.

If you’re struggling with an unexpected litter or simply don’t know what to do next, please contact us early - the sooner we know, the more we can help.

🐾 DOG OF THE WEEK - GIBSON 🐾

Yep… Gibson is our Dog of the Week again.

Somehow, this boy is still waiting. 😥

Gibson has become a firm favourite with our volunteers because, despite being a bit of a handful at times, he is so incredibly loving. He wants to be where the people are, involved in whatever is happening, and his antics regularly have us laughing.

He’s curious about absolutely everything - including the other dogs. When one approaches, Gibson will often lie down watching them, with that excited tail going behind him.

But Gibson is also a young, energetic Kelpie X, and we want to find him a home that understands what that means.

He would be best suited to an experienced dog owner who has the time to continue his training, give him plenty of mental and physical stimulation, and importantly, room to move.

He’s smart. He’s strong. He’s energetic. He has approximately 47 thoughts happening at once. 😂

And underneath all of it is an incredibly affectionate dog who just wants to be included.

Kennel life really isn't Gibson’s idea of a good time. He wants walks, adventures, things to do and, most of all, people to belong to.

Surely it’s Gibson’s turn soon. 💛

🐾 HAPPY MONDAY! 🐾

What better way to start the week than with a few Happy Endings 💛

Over the past few weeks, more of our dogs and cats have left GARG and headed off to their new homes. 🏡🐶🐱

A huge thank you to everyone who chose to adopt and give one of our animals their second chance. These are the posts we absolutely love getting to share!

And if you look at these happy endings and wish you could adopt - but can’t - there’s another way you can make a difference.

Come and spend some time with the dogs who are still waiting. 🐕💛

We’re looking for volunteer dog walkers to help get our shelter dogs out of their kennels for some exercise, enrichment and one-on-one attention.

Even one shift a week helps.

🕕 Morning shifts: 6:00am
🕓 Afternoon shifts: 3:30pm
🔸 Minimum age: 16+
🚗 Driver’s licence and reliable transport preferred

You might not be able to take one home - but you can make their wait for a home a whole lot better.

🐾 DOG OF THE WEEK - LOKI 🐾

Look who’s making progress! 💛

We introduced you to Loki earlier this week - our sweet boy who arrived very unsure about this whole walking on a lead business.

With patience from our volunteers, he’s been getting a little braver each time. He’s walking further, exploring more and slowly learning that heading out on the lead isn’t quite as scary as he first thought.

Loki is a friendly, affectionate boy who loves attention and cuddles. He may need a little more patience than some dogs while he builds his confidence, but he’s already showing us just how much difference a bit of time and encouragement can make. 🥰

And this Sunday, you can come and meet him!
