New Training Method Announcement – “Telepathic Cue Transfer”

After years of studying canine cognition and neuroscience, we are excited to announce that Canine Carers will now be trialling a new training approach:

👉 Telepathic Cue Transfer (TCT)

This method removes the need for verbal commands, hand signals, or reinforcement—allowing dogs to respond purely to the handler’s thoughts.

Early results show:
• 100% success rate… in theory
• Slight confusion when handlers are thinking about coffee, groceries, or what’s for dinner
• Dogs occasionally defaulting to “sniff mode” instead of mind-reading

We’ll be offering TCT as an optional add-on to all programs.

…or we’ll just stick to markers, reinforcement, and good timing 😅

Let’s talk about neutrality — and why it’s one of the most underrated skills a dog can have.

Neutrality isn’t your dog being “obedient.” It’s your dog being able to notice the world without feeling like they have to react to it.

From a brain perspective, neutrality means the nervous system is regulated. Your dog can see another dog, hear a loud noise, or watch people move past… and stay calm enough to think instead of instantly reacting. That’s where good decisions live.

Some of this comes down to genetics. Dogs are born with different levels of nerve strength — some are naturally resilient and take the world in stride, while others are more sensitive or cautious. That’s not good or bad — it’s just how their brain is wired.

But here’s the important part: the brain is adaptable.

We can build stronger emotional stability by safely exposing dogs to new environments, letting them observe without pressure, and rewarding calm, neutral behaviour. Every time your dog experiences the world without tipping into overwhelm, their brain learns, “This is safe. I can handle this.”

We’re not forcing them to ignore things. We’re teaching their nervous system how to stay steady in the presence of stimulation.

Neutrality is what allows confidence, learning, and clear thinking to happen.

And it’s something every dog — regardless of genetics — can improve with the right experiences.

Big update — and an exciting new chapter ❤️

Many of you know me through Total K9 Solutions, where I’ve been caring for your dogs through boarding and grooming. As my work has grown and my focus has evolved, it’s become clear that my long-term vision sits strongly in training, behavioural development, and assistance dog preparation through my new venture, Canine Carers.

What does this mean for current clients? Very little will change. Boarding remains exactly as it is — your dogs are still welcome and cared for with the same standards you know and trust. Grooming will continue with one small adjustment: I’ll no longer be able to offer pickup and drop-off services, as my time is now dedicated to running the training facility for Canine Carers.

For new and future clients, this shift allows me to expand what I’m most passionate about. I’ll have increased capacity for board-and-train programs and one-on-one training sessions, with a strong focus on neuroscience-informed methods, behaviour development, and preparing dogs for real-world success.

You’ll start to see my socials reflect this evolution — aligning more closely with my work in training, assistance dogs, and whole-dog wellbeing. Total K9 Solutions has been an important chapter, but Canine Carers represents where my heart, vision, and future are headed.
