Meet Frankie! 🐾

This tiny little Italian Greyhound came in for his vaccination and was quite possibly the cutest little patient we’ve had in our hands! 🥹

Frankie was so teeny, he practically fit in the palm of our hands. 🥰

Safe to say, we were all a little bit obsessed! 💚

Congratulations to Natasha! Tash received the award for ‘2026 Nurse Mentor of the Year’. We are incredibly proud of her for this well deserved achievement. She is an integral part of Greencross Caloundra and the team would be lost without her!

Bird flu is making headlines, so Better Homes & Gardens asked Greencross Vets what it means for our pets.

Greencross Vets veterinarian Dr Nina shares practical advice to help pet parents understand the risks and take simple precautions.

“Bird flu can infect all mammals, so dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets can all be infected.”

From avoiding contact with sick or dead wildlife to keeping cats indoors and dogs on a leash around wildlife, a few simple steps can help reduce exposure.

Ziggy came in for his castrate last week! 🐶💙 He was just too cute to resist, so naturally, he spent most of the day getting cuddles from the team! 🥰

🖤 A majestic visitor who never should have needed a trip to the vet.

This beautiful black swan was found with a fishing hook stuck in its mouth - a painful and completely preventable injury caused by discarded fishing gear.

Removing the hook required a general anaesthetic, along with pain relief to keep this feathered patient comfortable while we treated them. 🦢

A reminder to all anglers: please take your fishing line, hooks and tackle home with you or use a designated disposal bin. The Victorian Fisheries Authority advises that old fishing line should be placed in bins, or if there are no bins available, taken home, cut up and disposed of in general waste. Their Seal the Loop program also provides dedicated bins for unwanted fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. (VFA)

Discarded fishing gear can cause entanglement, injury and even death to wildlife. A few extra seconds to dispose of your gear properly can make a huge difference. 💔

🎣 Fish responsibly. Dispose responsibly. Protect our wildlife. A big thanks for the wildlife careers for bringing this amazing swan in and thanks to our team for helping 🫶🏼

Sweet 11-year-old Stella recently underwent an emergency cystotomy with us to remove bladder stones. 🩺💗

After her procedure and a little time to recover, Stella is now doing amazingly well so far and almost back to being her happy self! 🥰🐶

We’re so pleased to see this beautiful girl feeling comfortable and healthy again. 💕

🐾National Pet Memorial Day🐾

This Sunday the 13th of September, is National Pet Memorial Day. A day to pause, remember and celebrate the pets who have touched our lives with their unconditional love, companionship & loyalty.

For many of us, our pets are family. Although they may no longer by our side, the memories, love & paw prints they left behind stay with us forever.

We'd love to take a moment to remember some of the special pets who have passed over the years. Whether they passed recently or many years ago, every pet's story deserves to be remembered.

Share a photo and their name in the comments below so we can celebrate their lives together 🐾🐶🐱🐸🐦🐑💖

🐾Sunny ☀️

This adorable 7 month old Jack Russell came in for his desexing procedure and after a big day, decided it was definitely time for a well-earned snooze! 💤💙
With a warm blanket, a comfy bed and plenty of TLC from our nursing team, Sunny was resting peacefully while he recovered from his anaesthetic. 🥰
We think he looks pretty cosy! ❤️

Today we celebrated 10 years of nurse Steven working with us here at the clinic. Steven is a very important part of our team and we are super lucky to have him. So today we stopped for a few minutes to share some yummy snacks and thank Steven for everything he does for our clients, patients and the rest of the team here at Greencross Gawler. It has been a pleasure to be here with you Steven watching you learn and grow in the job from new trainee to our senior nurse taking knew trainees under your wing to teach them how to best care for our patients.

Meet Brian🐶✨

Brian is an almost 2 year old Chinese Crested who came in for a dental procedure. During his examination, we noticed several of his adult teeth hadn't erupted as expected.
To find out why, we took dental x-rays which revealed that those teeth were never present beneath the gum line. Without x-rays, we wouldn't have been able to determine whether the teeth were simply trapped under the gums or had never developed at all.

Brian was a wonderful patient and we're so glad we could give his smile a thorough check!

Did you know?🦷
Dental disease is one of the most common health problems we see in our pets, and it often starts long before you notice bad breath. Left untreated it can lead to painful infections, loose or broken teeth as well as difficulty eating.
A dental procedure allows us to thoroughly examine every tooth, scale and polish above and below the gum line, as well as take x-rays to detect hidden problems.

We currently are offering $75 off a dental until the end of August 2026 (T & C's apply).
If you would like to know more please give our friendly staff a call on 08 8523 1789.

🐾 Double the tuxedo, double the cuteness! 🐾

Stormy and Bevvy recently visited us for their routine desexing procedures and were absolute stars 🌟

Stormy was in for his castration and microchip, he took everything in his stride with plenty of cuddles (and a few tummy rubs!)

Bevvy came in for her spey surgery and is looking very stylish modelling one of our recovery suits!
We have recovery suits for both cats and dogs in various sizes and we fit them while they are here in clinic.

Remember, desexing not only helps prevent unwanted litters but also provides important health & behavioural benefits for furry friends 🩺🐾

✨Did you know we have post-operative recovery suits available for our surgical patients?✨

Recovery suits are a fantastic alternative to the traditional cone for many pets. They help protect your pet's surgical wound while allowing them to rest more comfortably.

If your furry friend is booked in for surgery or you'd like to know more, chat with our friendly team.

Below is Mario, modelling one of the recovery suits after his routine desexing and hernia repair. 🐶🐾
