I asked Mum if I could learn to groom my own dog, and she said yes—Annie became my very first practice pup. I never imagined that moment would lead me to where I am
today. I was so lucky to have such a patient, beautiful dog to learn with. As I gained confidence, I began grooming customers’ dogs on weekends. When my mum later injured her back, I stepped up and started grooming the larger dogs too. I left school and worked full-time alongside my mum for years, grooming dogs of all shapes, sizes, and coat types—big, small, short-haired, long-haired, very large, and very hairy! I’ve worked with nervous dogs, wriggly pups, and even some very naughty ones. Honestly, the difficult dogs often taught me more than the easy ones. What I love most is seeing dogs leave calm, happy, and comfortable. I’ve now opened my own little salon—lovingly built by my hubby—and I’m so excited to be back doing what I love. I’m already enjoying meeting all the different dogs and welcoming my wonderful new clients.
