Need to rehome
t Why the rehoming: My health circumstances have made it impossible for me to keep my
gorgeous cat. I will keep her in my house until a forever home can be found. My cat and I
are very bonded and I’m open to ideas for making the transition easier for her!
Human details: Rafal, Frankston North 3200, 0400389702.
Story: In mid 2025, a gorgeous fluffy cat greets my housemate at the door by thrusting her
head into his hands for a pat.(We learn later that she is well known by neighbours and
delivery people for being very friendly!) We feed her/give her pats in the back porch; we
don’t let her inside because of my cat allergies. We make several attempts to find her owner
in case she is lost including posting on local Facebook groups and confirming she does not
have a microchip. In the worst part of winter we let her inside in a crate so she doesn’t have
to sleep in the cold. Then we adopt her because those are the rules of the cat distribution
system, took her to the vet for a microchip and got her up to date on vaccines (she was
already desexed). I have since been diagnosed with mast cell instability, the gist is that my
cat allergies are seriously affecting my health and I have to part with my cat.
Name: Her name is “Cat” - she had a different name but that is what I call her and that is
what she answers to so I made it official!
Age: Unsure as she was a stray we adopted; could be between 7 to 10 years.
Medical information: Vaccinated, de-sexed, microchipped. Detailed medical info since we
adopted her in July 2025 can be provided. The vet believes she had cancer on her ears
(common with white cats), did cryotherapy (they use liquid nitrogen to “freeze” off the
cancerous parts). Her ears have cleared up a lot. On sunny days, we have to remember to
put her cat sunscreen on her ears before she goes outside. Hey eye sometimes has
discharge (goopy), which the vet is not concerned about and she cleans herself.
Socialising with kids: She is great with kids! She is extremely gentle, patient, loves to be
petted, very calm and friendly.
Socialising with cats: We don’t think she gets along with other cats, based on the
neighbourhood beefs she seems to have with other outdoor cats.
Socialising with other animals: Unfortunately we have no idea about this as we have
never seen it.
Indoor/outdoor: She is outdoors during the day but generally stays close to the house and
returns frequently. We usually bring her in by 3.30pm/4pm.
Food: We feed her once in the morning and once at 6pm for dinner, using Purina Live Clear
(anti-allergy) cat food + Greenies. She gets an occasional treat such as Temptations (catnip
flavour) with dinner or a wet treat (Pretty Wild).
Personality: She is a cutie pie. A vet once described her as “the most chill cat” she’d ever
met. She has a very sweet temperament and has cat-smarts. For example, if she wants to
tell me she doesn’t like something, she may gently swat or push me away, but not with her
claws and not aggressively because she knows I don’t like that. She loves to play fight and
chase things. She loves to sit on our laps, have a cuddle and loves to be petted.
Behaviour: She is extremely well behaved, making us think she was somebody’s pet who
was abandoned. She knows not to jump on counters/tables. She does not use a litter box,
she always waits to go outside to use the bathroom (cat bathroom).
