No action photos today but Gala and I were out and about again today at an obstacle play day with my club- Gippsland Working Equitation in Denison. It was hot, humid and only a slight breeze to make it tolerable and we enjoyed exploring the obstacles once again. Big win today at the gate. Gala did so much better, so clearly she remembered the work Gretel and I did with her before I went to Sri Lanka in July. She was pretty scared of the rope part of the gate last time. And the rest of the gate too if I’m honest. Today after a little fussing, she stood like a rock and we were able to open, walk through and back up to close it again, no problems! Good girl!
Gala isn’t confident when horses come straight at her (from any angle), but this improved through the session too.
I probably won’t ever compete WE with Gala but days like today (and the others) help expand her experience and build confidence.
The BEST thing about Gala is she’s easy to load on the float and travels like a dream. She’s so relaxed. It’s been a while since I’ve had a horse like that 🥰
Later in October we have a long float trip up to Myrtleford, so we’re getting “match fit”!

It’s that time of year again. Azaleas, shedding horses and time to wash grotty tails 😊 What time of year is it for you?

💛🤎🐴 Thanks to those of you who’ve noticed how much healthier Gala looks these days. She was skeletal when I bought her 2 years (!) ago and has had more than her fair share of health issues but you’d never know it looking at her right now 💛

Gala’s first look at cattle today. She did remarkably well- not fazed by them at all. Who would’ve thunk it?
Warmblood, dressage saddle. No problems 😝 thanks to Working Equitation Club and Kim McMahon from Wasmac Stockhorses and Alex Scott & Staff for sponsoring this event.

Aaaand- another one back in work. Now have to keep 2 going so I always have a spare.

A lesson for life but also for training horses. It’s easy to become an armchair expert but being willing to try and make mistakes takes far more courage.

After a lengthy period of time off, I’m back on Paris this week.
She injured her stifle in the paddock about 12 weeks ago and it’s been a slow road back.
But slow strengthening beats haste every time.

The World Working Equitation Championships have started and the dressage is being live streamed right now. An Aussie rider is on next. It is great to watch- rein backs to canter transitions etc etc and all ridden one handed. Extraordinary.
