Leanne's run from Richmond to Mount Isa over 4 rodeos saw her accumulate over $16,000 in earnings which included breakaway roping money aboard the great little mare Biddy🎉🎉
Clay and Biddy had a good run in the rope and tie winning and placing from Charters Towers through to Mt Isa and creeping him up in the standings with just over a month to go to secure a spot at the NFR.

The Australia Professional Rodeo Association season begins October 1st and ends September 30th of the following year, similar to the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association regular season. In total there are 84 APRA rodeos that barrel racers can travel to and compete at, and 115 APRA rodeos total.
“Some of these are limited event rodeos which means they don’t include all eight standard rodeo events that a full rodeo would,” Leanne said. “Within Queensland alone the longest distance I would travel is to Mt Isa which is just over 1000km (about 621 miles).”
The Mount Isa Mines Rodeo was held August 7-9 and Leanne dominated the barrel racing aboard “Akka Dakka.” They won the first round, finals and average for a total of $11,046.
“Rodeos in Tasmania are 2,500km (about 1553 miles) away and require ocean travel by a barge for a portion of the trip if horses are carted,” Leanne explained. “It is also the same type of distance to travel by road to South Australian rodeos and parts of Victoria from my place in Queensland.”
