When your dealing with a dog that works at a high level you must be able to work yourself higher! When working with these types of dogs you must think quick and be able to lead the dog to wins!! You must also be able to clean up mistakes caused from a a fast paced mind. Through struggle comes growth.

You can ask anyone that trains with her, they will tell you this is completely inappropriate and unnecessary. No one’s telling them to do it.

You see too many people who have Aimee’s point of view on how to use pressure is to build the dog up with lots of freedom and rewards and then cut them down when mistakes are made later in life. As you saw in our previous expose.

If you actually watch a mother and her pups, shaping starts from day one. Points of negative reinforcement from the mother. In other words negative feedback. The mum does not walk around with a ball on a string, a clicker and a treat pouch. So I’m glad she sees it as unnecessary because the way she uses pressure would definitely crush a puppy.

Just think about when your children started walking at around 3ish and it’s actually time to walk somewhere. Think about the negative feedback given.

No running near the road, don’t touch that parked car, come on buddy hurry up, leave the flower alone we need to get to the park.

All things that are negatively marked because of the mindset, arousal, detachment from the group, all things that can lead to costly mistakes in the world.

Then when we are at the park it’s time to play, explore and so on.

So it’s not that a dog can never explore. Or be aroused. But why would I wait till later in life to start teaching regulation and self control. It actually makes no sense whatsoever!
