We are an ethical, honest, accountabl

e, and transparent animal welfare group with a Pro Life - 'no kill' policy, serving the communities of Northern Victoria and the Southern New South Wales. All animals in our care are treated with respect, kindness, dignity and love. They are cared for in homes and treated like a part of the family. Animals in our care have access to quality veterinary care, food and shelter. It is our commitment to responsibly rehome all animals that come into our care. We take the time to find suitable, appropriate and loving forever homes. We aim to promote responsible pet ownership and be a voice for the rights and welfare of all animals. We rely solely on fundraising, donations, community grants and generous support to fulfil our commitment. Meet Tommy!

Tommy is a bundle of energy with a big personality and soft spot for cuddles. He is a confident, social little guy who enjoys being part of the action. Whether he is racing through the house in a burst of zoomies, chasing toys, chirping to get your attention, or reminding you that it might be dinner time, Tommy is sure to keep you entertained.

Tommy loves to play, so he would suit a home that can give him regular interactive play and plenty of opportunities to burn off his young cat energy. Tommy has lived with other cats before and may enjoy a home with another young, playful feline friend who can keep up with his lively nature. He would likely be happiest with a companion who enjoys a good chase, a wrestle and plenty of play.

Although he loves a good game and a run around, Tommy is also happy entertaining himself. He enjoys relaxing in his cat tree, soaking up the sunshine and keeping an eye on the world around him.

He may also give the occasional playful nibble when he is excited or affectionate. These little bites are gentle and not intended to hurt, but Tommy will benefit from a home that understands young, playful cats and can redirect him to toys when he gets carried away.

For all his energy, Tommy is also big sweetheart. He does not mind being picked up, but his favourite place is beside you or snuggled on top of you, soaking up pats and cuddles. After a busy session of chasing, racing and investig*ting, he is very happy to settle down close to his people.

Not only is Peggy Coffee the cutest little van serving delicious coffee and sweet treats, but Jess & Tanya are also doing wonderful things for our community! 🥰

Since opening their little coffee van, with the help of alans_succulents raised an incredible $410 for CARMAR through selling the cutest little succulent pots! 🌱🐾

📸 Koko seeing what all the fuss is about!

At 7 years old, Koko the Kelpie has well and truly mastered the art of being the best of both worlds. She’s happiest when she’s with her people and is a true little shadow, never too far behind you and always ready for pats, cuddles and all the attention she can get. ❤️

Koko enjoys getting out and about for a walk or slow jog, but she’s equally happy spending the day at home hanging out with her people. She really just wants to be where you are!

She tolerates most dogs, although she isn’t a fan of other dogs getting into her personal bubble without an invitation. She’ll give a few warning snaps to let them know she needs some space. It’s nothing nasty, but she is a girl who likes her boundaries respected.

Koko has been fantastic around her foster siblings of all shapes and sizes, including cats, chickens, cows, sheep and goats. She doesn’t show much interest in them at all and is happy to coexist.

A few things Koko has already mastered:
🐾 Walks well on a lead
🐾 Has good recall
🐾 Sleeps happily in her crate at night
🐾 Toilet trained
🐾 Knows how to sit
🐾 Loves her people A LOT ❤️
🐾 Cuddles are absolutely her thing!

Koko does have some food aggression towards other animals, so she is fed separately and away from other dogs and cats. This is easily managed and will need to continue in her forever home.

Koko could suit all sorts of homes, whether you’re looking for a companion to potter around with, a walking buddy, a farm dog or simply a loyal best mate to keep you company, she could be your girl.

She could suit anything from a young family through to an older person. As long as she has her people, some love, a comfy spot to sleep and plenty of cuddles, Koko will be happy. 🥰

Well, it’s officially spring! 🌸

How stunning has the weather been lately? ☀️ Whilst we’re loving the sunshine, we also know that springtime means one thing for rescue…

Kittens… lots and lots of kittens.

Last year was one of the busiest years we’ve had, and unfortunately, we had to say no to so many strays, orphaned babies and mummas in need. Not because we didn’t want to help, but because the cost of rescue is huge and we simply didn’t have enough foster carers or funds available.

The cost of taking in just one kitten can be anywhere from $300–$1,000, once you factor in vet work, food, litter, toys, milk and all of the other care they need. So, as we head into kitten season, we’re trying to prepare as much as we can! 🐾

💰 Donations of money would be incredibly appreciated. Having funds sitting in our account means that when that emergency call comes through, we can say YES to a baby or mumma who needs us.

It is Kitten season once AGAIN and this next story is sadly a common occurrence this time of year.

Thankfully this story has a happy ending but many don't.

****PLEASE DESEX YOUR PETS ****

A Stray cat had snuck under a house and had given birth to her 5 babies in December last year.

Thankfully the retired home owners rung CARMAR, and between us we were able to trap them all and they are now safe and doing very well in CARMAR care.

The kittens were born early in December 2025.

Her 5 tiny little babies were only 4 or 5 weeks old when we took them into care and not in the healthiest of states, but with lots of love and care they are all now ready for their new furrever homes.

During their recuperation and care in CARMAR they have all been named by their furabulous Sponsors.
Please meet;
Clyde.
He was one of 5 kittens born to a stray mumma cat who only has ever known how to live by her wits and has been very protective of her babies.
Clyde had only ever known that kind of environment but has blossomed since coming into CARMAR care with his siblings.
He is currently being foster cared in the same household as his siblings who are very quickly coming out of their shells and are becoming very friendly and playful with their human carers. Clyde will actively seek out his humans for lots of pats and purrs and cuddly companionship!

Because they have grown up surrounded by their siblings and other cats, never having been alone, we'd love to see Clyde adopted with one of his siblings or he would be ideal in a busy family household or would equally adore 24/7 attention from a retired couple who have the time to spend hours with him.

Today is Rainbow Bridge Rememberance Day-
If you have ever loved and lost a beloved pet you will understand that our pets grieve too. And CARMAR see this first hand when people's pets are surrendered to us for a myriad of reasons but one of the saddest is when an elderly owner has passed away or has had to go into Aged Care and they can not take their beloved pets with them.
On this day, please also consider helping a pet who's owner has crossed that bridge and it is they that are left behind.

💜The love they left behind💜
'Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, giving their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask...

To a poor and lonely stray, I’d give my happy home
my bowl, my cozy bed, my soft pillow, and all my toys.
I’d give the lap I loved so much, the hand that stroked my fur,
and the sweet voice that spoke my name.

To the sad, scared shelter dog, I’d will the place I held
in my human’s loving heart—a place that knew no bounds.

Six months of waiting, c’mon guys!

We really don’t understand how this girl is still waiting. 😭

Meet Lily, a ridiculously beautiful calico girl who has already overcome so much, and after six months in care, she is more than ready for someone to finally choose her. Lily had a rough and sickly start to life. She spent months receiving veterinary care, but we’re so happy to say that chapter is now behind her. She has been cleared by the vet, she’s happy, healthy and ready to start the life she deserves. 🥹

Now, we do need to have an honest chat about Lily…

She’s a calico which means she has opinions 😂
Lily is not going to run up to you when you first meet her and immediately shower you with affection. In fact, there’s a pretty good chance she’ll hiss at you.

Unfortunately, this is where people sometimes make the mistake of thinking:
“Oh, she didn’t choose me. She hissed at me.”

Nope😂

That little hiss isn’t Lily telling you she doesn’t want a home. It’s her saying “Excuse me, who the f*** are you, and why are you trying to touch me, we literally just met!” 💁🏼‍♀️💅🏼

Give this girl some time. Give her patience. Let her settle in and learn that you’re safe. Because once you’ve earned Lily’s trust, you get to see the real Lily, a sweet girl who loves pats and affection and has an absolutely gorgeous big purr. 🥰

She just needs someone who is willing to see beyond that first impression.

🏡 Lily could suit a couple of different homes:

🌿 A quieter home with patient people who will let her settle in at her own pace and build a relationship with her.
OR
🐭 A farm/rural home, where Lily can enjoy a little more independence and put her natural hunting instincts to good use catching mice.

What Lily needs most isn’t a particular type of house. She needs someone who won’t give up on her after the first hiss. ❤️
Six months is far too long for any cat to spend waiting for their forever home. Please don’t let Lily’s first impression be the reason she gets overlooked again.

She is beautiful. She is healthy. She is ready. She just needs someone to give her the chance to show you who she really is. 🥹🤍
