Inner City Strays We’re a group of compassionate cat lovers who are making a difference to the lives of Sydney street cats. Responsible Rehoming Organization number: R251000250

Inner City Strays, Inc is a not-for-profit incorporated association and charity comprising of a team of dedicated, passionate volunteers. Our work involves reducing stray numbers by rescuing young kittens and cats from various places around the inner city area of Sydney. We provide them with health checks and necessary veterinary treatments, foster and socialise them, before adopting them out to good homes through respected agencies or veterinary practices. Currently there is an unknown number of cats living on the streets of Sydney that are constantly at risk of being hit by cars and suffer from untreated disease or injury. These cats form colonies which may comprise of just a few felines to quite a large number. Through no fault of their own they are often persecuted by residents, members of the public, local businesses or various government departments that refuse to see them as a living, sentient animal. As we are all volunteers we would love the the support of cat lovers who want to see life-affirming programs implemented. We need tangible contributions; money, volunteers, cat food, foster carers, as well as community legal, veterinary and local business support. We support the internationally recognised ‘Five Freedoms’ of animal welfare:

Freedom from hunger and thirst
Freedom from discomfort
Freedom from pain, injury or disease
Freedom to express normal behaviour
Freedom from fear and distress

As we work on the frontline we can see that as a society we should be taking proactive steps to prevent further suffering & offer care. Our dedicated team makes the lives of these street cats so much better.

The perfect way to start the weekend.
Norah is a shy cat but once she knows you she bonds and trusts hard. She will hide at a meet and greet and when strangers come over. However behind closed doors she's a snuggler ❤️

Dudu was a little nervous having his annual echocardiogram at Balmain Vet Hospital yesterday. He charmed the nurses and received the all clear for another year.

Farewell, our beautiful Mr Carmichael 🤍🌈

Around 8 years young, Carmichael was a much-loved street cat with a healthy appetite and his very own way of showing affection. Always handsome in his black-and-white tuxedo, our little gentleman had plenty of character beneath that smart suit.

He never missed a meal and always wanted to be close—though that closeness came with his signature “hissing kisses”. Those little hisses were part of the boy we knew and loved. Affection, Carmichael style. ❤️

Caring for a street cat means building a bond one meal, one visit, one quiet moment at a time. You look for their familiar face every time you arrive. And saying goodbye doesn’t stop you looking, even when you know they won’t be there.

Our street feeding won’t feel the same without you, Mr C. We’ll miss your handsome face, your enthusiasm for treats and every one of those love kisses. We know your colony family miss you too.

You were part of our family. You mattered, and you were so very loved.

Sleep peacefully, sweet boy. Your belly is full, now pain free, and you’ve got your angel wings. You take a little piece of our hearts with you.

Forever loved. Forever remembered. 🤍🐾

🐾 Meet Splash!

Splash is a wonderfully chilled-out and relaxed young cat who loves nothing more than being by your side and watching the world go by.

Of course, he does have the occasional case of the zoomies, but most of the time, he’s happy to take life at a slower pace.

He gets along brilliantly with other cats, making him a lovely addition to a multi-cat household. 💕

Splash was rescued from the streets as a tiny kitten, and we like to think he knows just how lucky he is to have been given a second chance at life.

If you’re looking for a laid-back, easygoing companion who will happily keep you company, Splash could be your perfect match.

Ziwi’s story started in a back shed, where he was living and trying to survive. Sadly, some of the cats in the area had been poisoned, leaving Ziwi at real risk. Thankfully, he was rescued and given the chance to discover what life could be like when you’re safe, loved and cared for. ❤️

And just look at him — Ziwi is utterly stunning! 😻

One of his favourite things in the world is other cats. Put Ziwi in the company of feline friends and he can become so wonderfully focused on them that the humans are almost forgotten! 😂 He loves having other cats around and would happily share his home with a friendly feline companion.

But don’t worry if you’re a one-cat household — Ziwi is also perfectly happy as a single cat. He doesn’t need another cat to be happy; he just happens to absolutely adore them.

Ziwi has come a long way from the lonely back shed where he was found, and now he deserves a safe, loving home where he can relax, play and enjoy the good life.

He’s beautiful on the outside, but it’s his sweet nature and love of other cats that make him truly special. 💕🐾

Bambi was found living under a school, and while life hasn’t always been easy for this little lady, she has so much love waiting to come out. ❤️

All of Bambi’s litter mates have turned out to be incredibly smoochy, so we know that affectionate little personality is in there somewhere! Bambi just needs someone who understands that confidence can take time and is willing to be patient while she finds hers.

She can be a little shy about being petted sometimes, but then, when she feels comfortable, she’ll happily lie across your chest and purr away. 🥹 She’s a girl who will need you to let her set the pace — but the moments when she chooses to seek you out are incredibly special.

One thing Bambi has never been shy about is other cats! 😻 She absolutely adores feline friends and is super playful, so a friendly, confident cat companion would be a huge bonus for her.

Bambi is looking for a calm, patient home where she can settle in at her own pace, build trust, and discover just how wonderful being loved can be.

If you’re looking for an instant lap cat, Bambi may not be your girl just yet. But if you have the patience to wait for her to flourish, you could be rewarded with a very special little companion.

Imagine losing the person you’ve loved for 7 years when they move into a nursing home. Suddenly, your whole world changes and you’re left alone, with only a kind neighbour popping in to feed you.

That’s what happened to Chloe Belle. 💔 She has now been in care for 10 months, waiting for someone to give her a forever home.

Chloe can be shy at first, but once she comes out of her shell, she’s a beautiful snuggler who would happily spend all day snoozing on your bed. ❤️

She has a few allergies but is doing very well on a venison-only diet.
All Chloe needs is patience, love and a safe home where she can feel secure again in n her senior years.

🐾 Meet Pirate — the shy gentleman who has been waiting far too long for his forever home. 🖤🏴‍☠️
Pirate is 1 year and 11 months old, but he’s been waiting for his family for almost his entire life. He came into care as a tiny 7-week-old kitten and somehow, his forever person still hasn’t found him.
And honestly? We think Pirate is one of those cats who is very easy to overlook at first — because he’s a super shy gentleman when he meets you.
Pirate needs time.
He can take a few weeks to settle into a new home, and it can take a few months before he truly lets his personality shine. But if you’re willing to be patient and let him come to you in his own time, you’ll discover the wonderful boy hiding beneath that initial shyness. ❤️
Once he’s comfortable, Pirate has plenty to say! 🗣️ He absolutely loves to chat, and his little conversations are just one of the many things that make him special.
Pirate also thrives as an only cat. He doesn’t need a feline friend to be happy — in fact, he really enjoys having his person and his home all to himself.
He’s looking for someone who understands that love doesn’t always happen overnight. Someone who will give him the time, patience and safe space he needs to feel secure.
Because Pirate has already waited far too long.
He shouldn’t have to spend another birthday, another Christmas, another season in care waiting for someone to see the beautiful boy we know he can be. 🥺
