🐾 Inspiring the next generation of vets! 🩺🐴🐶

On Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming a group of future veterinarians to Pet Medical Centre for a behind-the-scenes look at life in a busy veterinary clinic.

The students enjoyed a tour of the clinic before sitting down for a presentation where we shared some of the interesting and unusual cases our team has seen and treated. It was a great opportunity to give them a glimpse into the variety, challenges and rewarding moments that come with a career in veterinary medicine.

There were plenty of great questions, lots of enthusiasm and hopefully a little inspiration along the way! 💙

Who knows… there might even be a future Dubbo Equine hospital and Pet Medical Centre vet hiding in this photo! 👀🩺🐾

Thanks for spending your Saturday with us — the future of veterinary medicine is looking bright! 🌟

📚 Continuing to learn so we can continue to provide the best care.

Dr Ross Pedrana and Dr Sam Webster recently travelled to Melbourne to attend the 2026 Bain Fallon Memorial Lectures—the Southern Hemisphere’s premier equine veterinary conference. The conference brings together leading equine veterinarians from around the world to share the latest advancements in sports medicine, lameness, surgery, endocrinology and equine health.

At Pet Medical Centre & Dubbo Equine Hospital, we’re committed to ongoing education and professional development so our clients and their horses benefit from the latest knowledge, techniques and evidence-based care.

We’re excited to bring what we’ve learned back to our patients and continue delivering the highest standard of equine veterinary care.

🐾 Meet Dr Sam – 9 Months In and Already Making a Lasting Impact! 🐾

It’s hard to believe that Dr Sam has only been part of the Pet Medical Centre & Dubbo Equine Hospital team for around 9 months!

While he’s new to our team, Sam brings with him almost five years of veterinary experience. Since graduating, he has worked in England, gained extensive mixed-practice experience in Tamworth, and built a strong foundation across equine, small animal and livestock medicine before joining us in Dubbo.

From day one, Sam hit the ground running. Whether it’s equine emergencies, small animal surgeries, farm calls, complex medical cases or everything in between, he has embraced every challenge with confidence, professionalism and a genuine passion for helping animals. He hasn’t just settled into the role—he has thrived.

The depth of knowledge, practical skills and calm approach he brings to every case have made him an invaluable member of our team. He approaches every patient with compassion, every case with determination, and every client with honesty and care. His willingness to continue learning and refining his skills is one of the many reasons he continues to grow as a veterinarian.

The feedback from our clients says it all. We regularly hear how much they appreciate Sam’s kindness, thoroughness and the time he takes to explain things clearly. It’s obvious he has already made a lasting impression on so many families and their beloved animals.

We are incredibly proud to have Sam as part of the Pet Medical Centre & Dubbo Equine Hospital team. His experience, work ethic and dedication to providing exceptional patient care make him a fantastic veterinarian, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.

So here’s your public ego boost, Sam—you’ve earned it! 😉 Thank you for everything you do for our patients, our clients and our team. We’re lucky to have you! 👏🐴🐶🐱🐮💙

🐂 Bull Back on His Feet! 🐂

Not every farm call is straightforward, and this big fellow was feeling the effects of a painful foot abscess.

Dr Sam recently attended to this bull, carefully examining and treating the affected foot to relieve pressure, drain the abscess, and get him on the road to recovery. Foot abscesses can cause significant lameness and discomfort, so early veterinary attention is important to prevent ongoing pain and further complications.

With some skilled hoof work and appropriate treatment, this bull is already on the mend and should be much more comfortable in the coming days.

If you’ve noticed any of your cattle showing signs of lameness, reluctance to walk, or swollen feet, don’t ignore it—early intervention can make all the difference.
