βοΈ Hot Day = Extra Care for Our Pets πΎ
We love a sunny day and how lucky we are here at Southern Beaches to be surrounded by so many beaches! β but hot weather can be risky for our four-legged friends. At Home or Before you head out, keep these sun-smart tips in mind π
πΆ Walk early or late β If the pavementβs/sand is too hot for your hand, itβs too hot for paws
π³ Shade is essential β Especially for outdoor dogs
If possible keep inside in a cool dark space (bonus points for air con)
π Never leave dogs in cars β Even βjust for a minuteβ
π§ Ensure access to plenty of fresh water (multiple sources incase of spillage)
𧴠Appy A Pet Safe Suncreen to those pale noses or skin!
π Beware of our slithering friends too!
Short-nosed breeds (pugs, frenchies, bulldogs) puppies and senior dogs heat up faster, so take extra care π
**HEAT STROKE**
π¨ Early signs
β’ Excessive or rapid panting
β’ Drooling / thick saliva
β’ Red or pale gums
β’ Restlessness or anxiety
π¨ Severe signs

Dogs donβt sweat like we do β once they overheat, it can escalate quickly.
If youβre ever worried your dog may be overheating, seek veterinary care immediately.
Stay cool, stay safe, and enjoy this summer day responsibly πΎ
