RINGTAIL POSSUMS
For my overseas followers, I thought I would show you this beautiful native marsupial: the common ringtail possum.
These fascinating little animals are nocturnal, spending most of their lives in trees.Their incredible prehensile tail acts almost like a fifth limb, helping them grip branches and climb.
Unlike many other possums, ringtails build nests called dreys using leaves, twigs and bark.
They feed mainly on leaves, flowers and fruit.
And here's something fascinating: male ringtail possums actually help raise their babies, sometimes carrying them on their backs!
Another amazing Australian native worth protecting!
