Today we celebrate FIVE fabulous years since our superstar receptionist, Jacqui swanned in 🥳

Over the last five years, Jacqui has become so much more than the friendly face behind the desk. From answering phones and helping clients, to keeping the clinic running smoother than an iconic power walk 🥹

Whether she’s greeting clients with a smile, juggling a hundred things at once, or helping us find the thing we’ve all somehow lost, she does it all with patience, kindness and a healthy dose of good humour 💖

Jacqui, thank you for five years of dedication, laughter, support and being the absolute bees knees!! We couldn’t imagine the clinic without you 💃

Before heading back out to her family, she stopped for a quick cuddle and photo with Isabella after being such a brave girl during her visit 🥹

Today we introduce another one of our wonderful workplace students!

We’re loving having Matilda join us at the clinic for her Cert II placement 🥹💛

Her passion for animals and dream of becoming a vet nurse shines through in everything she does, with one of her favourite parts being helping animals feel better!

Fun fact; if Matilda could be any animal, she’d be a cow 🐮 because they spend their days relaxing in paddocks eating grass, and she loves all their different colours and patterns 🤭✨

Lucky is learning that nail trims can be pretty awesome 🫶🏼

One of our favourite Fear Free strategies is pairing things dogs may find a little worrying with something they absolutely love. For Lucky, that meant enjoying a delicious lick mat while we worked on building positive associations with handling and nail care!

There’s actually some fascinating science behind it too. Repetitive licking is a natural calming behaviour for dogs. It can help lower arousal levels, encourage slower breathing, and activate the release of feel good neurochemicals such as dopamine and endorphins, helping dogs feel more relaxed and comfortable in the moment ✨

By combining a positive experience with something that may previously have felt challenging, we can help change the emotional response! Lucky was more than happy to demonstrate the power of a well stocked lick mat, and we were pretty happy with his efforts too 🩵

Arthritis isn’t just a dog problem! Toby is here with his happy snack to talk about it today 🫶🏼🐾

In fact, many cats develop arthritis as they age, but because they’re experts at hiding pain, the signs are often missed 🐱

You might notice they’re jumping less, hesitating before climbing stairs, sleeping more, grooming differently, or becoming a little grumpier than usual.

The good news is that arthritis can be managed, and early intervention can make a huge difference to your cat’s comfort, mobility and quality of life!

Evie came in for her visit recently and, as you can see, she was very clear about her priorities 🤭 snacks first, everything else second!

This sweet girl perfected the art of the snack face and had our nurse wrapped around her paw within seconds once again 🥹
