Happy Retirement to Quinn (Astute Queen). I know we shouldn't have favourites but she is one of my all time favourites. She is going to hate us for retiring her as she loves to run so much but we have to do the right thing by her to ensure she has an amazing retirement. She has just turned 5 years of age and has raced an incredible 162 times and was in the placings 64 times. She also loved to course and won multiple coursing events including the Bert Clark Memorial (as pictured above with her sister Medusa who won the Longwood Cup on the same day). She has the most beautiful personality and loves everyone she comes across. Hopefully our next post about Quinn will be of her sitting on someones couch living a life of luxury.

Diana (Should Be Queen) made it 2 wins in a row yesterday at Traralgon. She has had a few issues but a big thanks needs to go to Rob Palotta and Jacquie Berry for letting us use their bullring the last few weeks and getting Diana back on track with lots of toys and competition with other dogs. She is chasing beautifully at the moment and hopefully these two are the first of many with this young chaser. A video of yesterdays win is below.

This beautiful girl is Alice and she is ready to find her forever couch. She is 2 years old and decided that racing was not for her after a couple of goes. She is a beautiful black lady who is quite calm considering her young age. She is small dog friendly and has been tested with a cat on one occasion and after a sniff hello, pretty quickly decided she wasnt interested in him. She has been de-sexed, had her teeth cleaned and has spent a decent amount of time in our house with no problems. She likes to be around people but doesnt mind if she is left on her own for a short period of time (we have never tested her for more than a couple of hours). This beautiful girl is Venus and she is ready for her forever home. She has been de-sexed, had her teeth cleaned and has spent some time in our house learning the ropes of pet life. She is a little timid when she first meets people but once you have earned her trust, she has a lot of love to give. She is little dog friendly and has been tested with cats once. On that occasion she completely ignored the cat so we will assume she is at least cat tolerant. She is two years old and the most beautiful girl inside and out. On Saturday morning we attended Mornington Dog Club's Greyhound socialisation class with Lainey (never raced) and Venus (raced a couple of times as Fawn Fire). Neither girl had encountered any dogs other than greyhounds or really being handled by anyone other than us. Lainey decided class was boring and decided to lie down for a snooze mid class but then went for a walk with a small fluffy and basically ignored him the whole time. Venus was handled by someone who was a complete stranger and showed absolutely no interest in any other dog but was polite in her greetings and interactions with people and dogs.

Classes like these are hard to come by, but will definitely be something we do regularly with any of our retired dogs. It's a safe, controlled environment (the white fluffy is very well trained and used to being around unruly young greyhounds!) where there is no food offered and all dogs are rewarded with love! Both girls are wearing a harness to allow me to have better control (I was also pushing a pram!) and muzzles as we were unsure how they would react to being surrounded by so many dogs.

These two girls are looking for their forever home and we will continue their socialisation through dog club and Greyhound walks until they find the perfect home.
