🐾 Patient Spotlight: Kodji & His Healing Eye 🐾
Meet Kodji, a 5‑year‑old Rottweiler cross who has been visiting us recently for a stubborn corneal ulcer in his left eye.
Kodji first came in after his eye became sore and inflamed, likely from a bit of rough play with his doggy housemates. A fluorescein stain revealed a small corneal ulcer, and he started on medication and anti-inflammatories to help it heal.
Over the following weeks, Kodji returned for several rechecks. His ulcer proved persistent — at one visit, the stain showed it had become a little bigger. These findings told us his eye was trying hard to heal, but needed consistent medication and protection.
During his most recent check‑up, we discovered Kodji had been without his Elizabethan collar for a few days and may have missed some doses of his eye medication. Without protection, ulcers can worsen from rubbing, and that’s exactly what we saw.
The good news? Kodji is a trooper. With his medications restarted, his collar back on, and a follow‑up booked, he’s on track again.
Corneal ulcers can be slow to heal, especially when they become indolent, but with consistent care, most pets recover beautifully — and Kodji is well on his way.
