I added a comment to Evie’s Bark page on their story about the challenge of rehoming black dogs. ET and BJ, her brother, the only black dogs in a litter of 10 that all found homes quickly. Both are 2 yrs old, at Helga’s and needing loving 🥰 forever homes. Both have playful natures and are great with all of our junior and adult crew.

Today, on Evie’s Bark’s 2nd anniversary, we are excited to be launching the Evie’s Bark Recycling Initiative. ♻️🐾

We gave a little sneak peek at Kiki's Justice Walk 2026 last month, but today we are officially opening the initiative to our community.

We are also so happy to be working alongside HATS NT through the Evie’s Bark Recycling Initiative. Both bring something different, but share the same goal - helping animals and creating positive, meaningful change and keeping items out of landfill.

HATS NT already gives pre-loved items another life through its op shop in Coconut Grove, with funds raised helping genuine animal rescues across the Territory. They have already raised an amazing $65,000 to support rescues.

100% of funds raised through recycling will support animal welfare.

50% supports Evie’s Bark
Helping fund advocacy, awareness, safer standards in the pet care industry, and provide resources and support for pet guardians.

50% supports HATS NT
Helping support genuine animal rescues across the Northern Territory.

To keep Evie’s Bark moving forward and continue working towards our goals, we wanted a sustainable way to help fund what we do.

In the NT, we are still raising awareness and pushing for licensing, stronger oversight and clearer planning requirements across the pet care industry. Our advocacy is also reaching beyond the NT as we continue speaking up for safer pet care and stronger protections for companion pets across Australia.

We also know times are tough, and there are many who would love to donate financially to support animal welfare but may not be in a position to do so.

That is why we created our Evie’s Bark Recycling Initiative — giving a simple way to support animal welfare through recycling instead.

Simply collect your eligible 10¢ containers - including cans, drink bottles, w**e and spirit bottles, milk containers and more - and we’ll pick them up for free.

It takes the hassle out of travelling to and waiting at the recycling depot, keeps more recyclable containers out of landfill and turns their value into meaningful change.

Our long-term hope is for Evie’s Bark to become fully funded through recycling, giving us a sustainable way to continue growing our advocacy, website, resources and support for pet guardians into the future.

A bottle, a can or a milk container may seem small, but together they can add up to something meaningful.

Donations can be a one-off, after a special event, fortnightly or monthly pickups - whatever works best. Pick-up of recycling is completely free !

Families, households, workplaces, businesses and community organisations are all welcome to take part.
