☀️ Sunny walks around Darlo, local park visits and summer adventures are calling! 🐾

But ticks don't check postcodes! Even our city pets can be exposed during neighbourhood walks, coastal day trips and weekends away, especially as the weather warms up.

Parasite prevention matters all year round for both dogs and cats, along with regular tick checks after outdoor adventures.

Every pet is different, so if you're unsure about their protection, our Darlo team is always happy to chat about options suited to their needs, lifestyle and travel plans. 💙

These may include oral chews, suitable topical treatments or a convenient once-yearly tick prevention injection for eligible dogs.

The human-animal bond is something pretty special.

Our animals give us companionship, connection and countless small moments that can positively contribute to our wellbeing. They encourage us to get outside, create routine, slow down, be present and, often, simply make us smile.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we celebrate the positive connection between people and animals, but it’s also an important opportunity to reflect on mental health within the veterinary profession.

Behind every consultation, surgery, phone call and patient is a person who has chosen a career caring for animals and the people who love them. Supporting the wellbeing of those people matters.

We’re grateful for organisations such as Flynn’s Walk and Sophie’s Legacy, which continue to raise awareness, encourage conversations around mental health and advocate for greater support across the veterinary community.

Today, let’s check in with the people around us, make space for conversations about mental health, and celebrate the animals who add so much to our lives. 💙🧡

There’s a lot that goes into a day at Vet HQ Darlinghurst, and our nurses are at the heart of it. 💙🧡

This Vet Nurse Day 2026, we’re celebrating the people who keep our patients cared for, support our vets and help everything keep moving, even on the busiest days. 🐾

To mark this year’s theme, Everyday Heroes: Strength, Skill and Heart in Action, we asked our vets to share what our nurses mean to them.

Swipe through to see what they had to say. 💬

To our Darlinghurst nursing team, thank you for the skill, calm, kindness and teamwork you bring to our patients, our clients and each other every day. We couldn’t do it without you. 🩺💙

Sometimes seeing the world through your pet’s eyes means noticing the things we might normally walk past. 🐾

A new sound outside, different smells, visitors at home, activity in the street or a change to their usual routine can all shape how an animal experiences their day.

This year’s World Animal Day theme, See the World Through Their Eyes, is a reminder to think beyond our own perspective and consider what our changing surroundings might feel like for the animals who share them with us.

At VET HQ, we know every pet has their own personality, preferences and way of experiencing the world. Taking the time to notice what makes them feel comfortable, curious or unsure helps us make better choices for their care and wellbeing.

A little patience, space and understanding can go a long way, not just for our own pets, but for animals across our community too. 💙

Then it's in the car and back to Vet HQ where head nurse Elena is ready and waiting to continue the patients care.

Urgent Vet is open when we aren't, every weekday evening from 7pm to 8am the next morning. Saturday from 2pm until 8am Monday. They are also open 24hrs on public holidays.

🦷✨ We're wrapping up Dental Month at Vet HQ with one of the most important messages of all: home dental care matters!

Did you know that most pets show signs of dental disease by 3 years of age? Daily dental care at home can help reduce plaque and tartar build-up, freshen breath, and support your pet's overall health and wellbeing.

Some of our favourite Vet HQ-approved dental products include:

✅ Pet toothbrushes and toothpaste (no fluoride)
✅ Dental diets - Hills t/d for dogs and cats
✅ Dental chews - Oravet, VeggieDent and Greenies
✅ Water additives like PlaqTiv+ and Plaque Off powder
✅ Oral gels and dental wipes

Not every product is right for every pet, and some are much more effective than others. Our team can help you choose a dental homecare plan tailored to your pet's age, breed, lifestyle, and dental health.

Remember, home care is most effective when combined with regular dental check-ups and professional dental treatments when needed.
