🐶 SMOOTH COATS 🐶
A smooth coat is short, but it also sits flat against the skin; and that changes how we think about their coat care needs.
Unlike a coat with lots of fur between the skin and the outside world, smooth coats offer very little separation from the skin.
That means things like grass, dirt, moisture and everyday environmental exposure are in much closer contact with the skin. It’s very easy for those irritants to trap between the skin and coat, causing irritation and possibly skin issues. The condition of the skin itself becomes an especially important part of grooming.
One of the features of our smooth coat products is to be quick rinsing to avoid residue between the skin and coat. We also infuse them with Rosehip oil to nourish their sensitive skin.
Think Boxers and Great Danes: their coats may look incredibly low maintenance, but caring for their sensitive skin is key.
That’s one of the reasons we don’t formulate all “short-haired” breeds the same way.
Because when you’re developing a breed specific formula, the coat is only part of the story. The skin underneath matters too. ❤️
