🌼 SPRING IS HERE! 🌼
The days are getting longer, the weather is warming up and we’re all looking forward to spending a little more time outdoors with our pets. ☀️🐾
But warmer weather also means a few seasonal hazards are making their return.
🕷️ Paralysis ticks are active
Ticks can cause life-threatening paralysis in both dogs and cats. Make sure your pet’s tick prevention is up to date and get into the habit of checking them every day.
🐍 Snakes are on the move
As temperatures rise, snakes become more active. Keep an eye on pets exploring long grass, bushland and around the backyard. If you suspect your pet has been bitten by a snake, seek veterinary attention immediately.
☀️ And watch the heat
Even those first unexpectedly hot spring days can catch us out. Avoid strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day, make sure pets always have access to shade and fresh water, and never leave a pet in a parked car.
🌼 Don’t wait for the first tick, snake encounter or scorching day to start thinking about spring safety.
Now is the time to get your pet spring-ready. Check their parasite prevention, make sure you know the signs of tick paralysis, snake bite and heatstroke, and give us a call if you’re unsure whether their protection is up to date.
A few minutes of preparation now could make all the difference later.
