We had the brave Reggie in the clinic today for his procedure with Dr. Pat. He handled everything like a true champ and was all smiles (and cuddles!) afterwards.

Rest up and enjoy extra treats at home today, Reggie! 💙

🐍 Snake Season Alert – Keep Your Pets Safe! 🐾
As the weather warms up, snakes become more active — and curious pets are at risk. We’ve already seen cases this season, so here’s what to watch for:

⚠️ Common signs of a snake bite:
Sudden collapse, then seeming recovery
Weakness or wobbliness
Vomiting
Swelling or bleeding near a bite site
Pale gums, rapid breathing

If you suspect a bite:
✅ Keep your pet calm and still
✅ Carry them to the car (don’t let them walk)
✅ Head straight to your vet or the nearest emergency clinic
✅ Call ahead if you can so the team can prepare

🚫 Don’t:
– Apply ice
– Use a tourniquet
These can make things worse and delay urgent treatment.

🕒After‑Hours Support
If a snake bite happens after hours, call 64557800, follow the prompts to talk to Vetchat, who will triage your pet’s condition and connect you with our on‑call veterinarian.

📍 Snake bites can be fatal, but fast treatment saves lives. If you live near bushland, creeks, sheds, or long grass, be extra cautious. Keep pets on lead, avoid off‑path exploring, and check your yard regularly.

Let’s keep our furry friends safe this season 💚
If you have questions or need help, give us a call: 6455 7800.

🐾 NSW Breeding & Microchipping Law Updates

🔹Microchipping is now mandatory for ALL dogs in NSW- including working and farm dogs.
Dogs must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age or before sale or transfer, whichever comes first.
There are no exemptions for working dogs.

If you have multiple dogs needing microchipping, please contact us and we can help organise this smoothly.

🔹Breeder Identification Number (BIN)
All breeders — including accidental litters — must obtain a BIN within:
– 14 days of pregnancy, or
– 7 days of whelping.

🔹Advertising Puppies
All puppy ads must include either the microchip number, the BIN, or a Rehoming Organisation Number (RON).

🔹Litter Logging
Natural litters must be logged by the breeder on the NSW Pet Registry.
Caesarean litters are logged by the vet.

🔹Breeding Limits
NSW now limits:
– 5 litters per female
– 3 caesareans per female (after 2, written vet approval is required)

If you’re unsure about your responsibilities or need help with the NSW Pet Registry, our team can guide you through the process.

Breeding livestock brings high highs and tough lows. We’re heartbroken for the Strathalbyn Highland Cattle team over the loss of Matilda’s calf today, but so grateful our team could get out there quickly to help. Sending Matilda lots of love for a smooth recovery.

📞 After-Hours Care at Snowy Vets 📞

When your pet needs medical attention outside our regular clinic hours, you want quick, reliable guidance from professionals who understand our commitment to care. That’s why our partnership with VetChat is so much more than just a phone connection behind the scenes; they are a true extension of our Snowy Vets team.

Here is how our collaborative care model works for you:
- Instant Triage & Assessment: When you contact us after hours, Vetchat’s experienced veterinary team steps in immediately to triage your concerns, offer immediate advice, and determine the exact level of urgency.

- Direct Coordination with Snowy Vets: If your pet requires hands-on care or urgent emergency treatment, Vetchat liaises directly with our on-call veterinarian to hand off your case details, ensuring a smooth transition right into our hands.

- Peace of Mind, 24/7: Whether it's a reassurance check or an urgent middle-of-the-night emergency, you always have immediate access to qualified veterinary care when you need us most.

Operations Managers Ashleigh (Snowy Vets) and Samantha (Vetchat) caught up at the vet expo today.
We’re proud to work alongside a partner who values your pet's health as much as we do! 🐾❤️
