POV: Your dad’s a vet, so you get to hang out with the horses 🐎
Dr Ben took his girls along to the Stockman’s Challenge at the Colac Pony Club this weekend, where Florence had one very important question…

“Dad, can we get a horse so I can ride it please?”
He may have just created a very expensive new wish list! 🐴😂

🐦 Found a baby magpie on the ground?
We understand the instinct to help when you see a baby bird alone, but in most cases, the best thing you can do is leave it be.
These young birds are called fledglings and it’s completely normal for them to spend several days on the ground while learning to fly. Their parents are usually nearby, feeding and protecting them — even if you can’t see them.

Only intervene if:
🩹 The bird is visibly injured
⚠️ It is in immediate danger, such as on a busy road or being attacked by a pet
🐣 It is a very young, poorly feathered nestling that has fallen from the nest

If a fledgling is in danger, gently move it a short distance to a sheltered spot nearby and watch from a distance for its parents to return.

If you’re unsure, give us or your local wildlife rescue a call before taking a healthy fledgling home 🙏
