Bright Bessy Dog Training

Bright Bessy Dog Training BBDT uses force free training and behaviour modification- showing your dog how to make good decisions I have developed that method. It is simple and logical.

I have seen the need for the development of an uncomplicated, no-frills method of dog training which clients can feel comfortable with and understand. It has no gimmicks and is highly effective. My method needs no equipment other than a flat collar and lead and does not involve the use of force or fear in any way, shape or form. sands of dogs, many of which had major behavioural problems, needed to develop some manners, had an owner that needed a helper or were young pups needing a great start in life. I don’t make unrealistic promises. I maintain a sense of humour and we am passionate about what I do.

I have just returned from a 'memory trip ' retracing my younger years with my daughters and two grandkids.
The place of most importance to me was the property that we used to own - Mirrabooka.
In its best years, we ran 3,000 sheep and 250 cattle on that place.
It is here that I learned about dogs from a very young age - their value as work mates,their care and their training.Tan,Cubby,Rover and Buster - just to name few.
Working with the dogs herding stock in the paddocks or in the yards was my favourite thing to do.
And so , my love of, and respect for dogs was born ..........

THE WORLD ACCORDING TO SPUD

I don't know if you remember little SPUD.A dog that was rescued from spending her whole life being neglected in a back yard.
A couple of months ago ,when I met her ,she was totally shut down - shaking ,cringing and scared of everything.Her coat was so matted,that after an emergency groom, her skin was covered in bruising from the matting pulling up on it.
Slowly we introduced SPUD to this big old world of ours- just pushing her outside of her safety zone a litte more each session.A bit like building a house- strong foundation makes a stable house.
From being scared of everything,she is now 'absorbing' and enjoying life to the max.Over ,under,through,noisy dog wash buttons,leads ,climbing on rocks.......and a new owner that believes in her.
In all honesty,in my 25 years as a dog trainer, thousands of dogs - I have never seen a dog learn,enjoy,be as enthusiastic and try as hard as little SPUD.
But,do you know what touches me the most?
She loves and trusts so hard eventhough she has every rite to hate all human beings.

JARA has recently moved from a rural setting where he had very little socialisation,to a suburban area where he would be experiencing sensory overload.
Ofcourse,this is manifesting in reactivity and some anxiety.
He settled really well at our first outing to the jetty and was even enjoying it.
He's a lovely dog who just needs to find his brave ....

WINSTON has had several changes in his life and has lacked effective socialisation.
As a result,he is unsure how to relate to other dogs and is very reactive around them .He's also worried about some people- particularly males.
With in an hour we had him making good decisions when he saw other dogs ie turn toward his owner.
This was not done with physicaility - but by showing him what we wanted and then allowing him to show us that he had learned.It worked a treat.
We are working toward Winston becoming a thinking dog- not a scared one.
