Further information that may help with our ongoing issue of Blackbeard.

Black beard algae (BBA) in an aquarium is primarily caused by unstable or low carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels and a buildup of organic waste.
When the tank environment becomes unbalanced, BBA (a type of red algae scientifically called Audouinella) takes advantage of the surplus nutrients and stresses your live plants.
Main Causes of Black Beard Algae
• Fluctuating or Low CO₂: In planted tanks, unstable CO₂ injection or sudden drops in carbon dioxide starve the plants. Stressed plants cannot use the available light and nutrients, allowing algae to take over.
• High Organic Waste: A buildup of detritus, fish waste, uneaten food, and rotting plant matter releases organic compounds and nitrates into the water that fuel BBA growth.
