This sad reputation comes from mass breeding that weakens their genetics, the stress of overcrowded transport and pet store tanks, and their extreme sensitivity to sudden water changes.

On top of that, they’re prone to diseases like Neon Tetra Disease, which often shows up right after purchase.

While the name makes them sound hopeless, if they survive that fragile first week and adapt to your tank, they can actually live for years.
