I've been getting a lot of enquiries for training lately. At this stage I won't have any availability for new students until late July/August at the earliest. I'll post on this page when spots open up.

Most people who do a Foundations workshop with me get to meet my sweet Gavin as he is usually my demo dog.

Here's another side to him 😉

He 110% believes in his cow stopping ability and hasn't been proven wrong yet.

Foundation stockdog workshop - Sat 30 May FULL PENDING PAYMENTS - WAITLIST STARTED

Time: 9am to 1pm
Cost: $150 per dog
Maximum 6 dogs.
All herding breeds welcome!

Foundation workshops are best suited to dogs over 9 months of age who have shown an interest in working stock already.
- I can cater for any experience level of both dog and handler - the 'foundation' part refers to learning how I train and what foundation exercises (both on and off stock) I consider essential.
- Dogs get two runs on sheep in an appropriate area
- A variety of areas are available, from 15x15m to 45x90m.

PM to book. Pre-payment is required to hold your spot.

🐑 FULL Assessments/instinct tests available in May - PM for more info or to book

I have a few dates available for stockdog assessments and instinct tests. These suit dogs that have never worked stock before, as well as dogs with experience that are new to me, so we can determine what our next steps are - Foundations workshop or private lessons.

Each session is one-on-one, runs for approx. 30 minutes and costs $70 (with a discount available for additional dogs within the same family).

Have a few friends that want to come and try their dogs? I can also offer assessments as a mini clinic with a discount per dog if booked altogether.

Foundation stockdog training and instinct testing - March

I have the following availability for new clients (next intake not until May):
- Saturday 7: Assessment/instinct testing FULLY BOOKED - WAITLIST STARTED
- Sunday 15: Assessment/instinct testing FULLY BOOKED - WAITLIST STARTED
- Saturday 21: Foundation workshop FULL. 9am to 1pm, $150, maximum 6 dogs.

Assessment/instinct tests suit the following:
- dogs that have never seen sheep before
- dogs under 9 months of age (I generally don't start training dogs seriously until they are over 9 months but I do expose them to sheep regularly)
- new clients with dogs that have had some stock experience (allows me to assess the dog and determine next steps) - if this is you, you could also consider a Foundation workshop.

Foundation workshops are best suited to dogs over 9 months of age who have shown an interest in working stock already.

Lonepine Coyote had his first look (with Stockmans Revel as hard working backup 🤣) and once he develops some confidence, he's gonna go ok!

WAITLIST STARTED

Looking for a dog school over Easter? Rob Cox from Karrobar Kelpies is coming to Chiltern for a 3 day school from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 April.

There are still fence sitting spots available with your choice of doing 1, 2 or 3 days. PM for more details and cost. A waitlist has been started for working spots.

Previous participants think Rob is so great, they're coming back for the 4th time!

We're limiting this school to 10 participants. We have a variety of training areas to work in, including a round pen, yard course, arena and 8 acre paddock. Camping is available.

Happy new year! Lonepine Coyote is excited to see what 2026 has in store for us.

Training will start up again in March once the weather has cooled down. We'll be doing things a little differently this year with the introduction of an assessment/instinct testing session for all new students. I'll post an expression of interest form shortly where you can register to get priority access when bookings open.

You'll then have the option of either joining a "Foundations" workshop, if you are new to working stock dogs, or going on the wait list for "Progression" lesson spots. Lessons are booked and priced by time.

Prices:
- Assessment/instinct test: $70 for first dog, $50 for subsequent dogs in the same family at the same time. Midweek and weekend availability.
- Foundations workshop: 4 hours, $150 per dog, max 6 dogs. Weekends only.
- Progression lessons: $60 for 30 minutes - can be one longer run or split into 2, depending on dogs' needs. If split, these will typically shared with one other dog/handler team so you can alternate.
- Specific skills clinics: range from $60 to $120 per dog and may cover release/soft start, flanks, driving, duck training etc.
