Hi everyone,

If you keep or intend to keep ANY exotic (not native Australian) birds we highly recommend you attend this meeting as the new requirements by DPIRD will have a direct impact on you.

So, PLEASE make an effort to be there and note the change of date as below.

Hope to see you there and feel free to ask the DPIRD representative any questions that will impact on the keeping of exotic birds. Thanks.

Hi all you bird lovers!

On 1st December 2025 the licensing of all exotic birds was transferred from DBCA to DPIRD. Under DPIRD’s new system several changes have been made which will have a direct impact on anyone keeping, acquiring and disposing of non Native Australian birds.

We have attempted to advise DPIRD of the ramifications of their new requirements and believe it is important for them to get input from the wider avicultural community.

Both major bird clubs are aware of the situation and have invited a representative from DPIRD to attend a meeting to discuss these new changes and their consequential impact.

Below is a notice from The Avicultural Society of WA and the Finch Society of Western Australia inviting everyone with an interest in these new changes to attend this meeting. We would strongly urge as many people as possible to be there and be heard.

Please share this with your friends and hope to see you there.
