🐾❤️ Why Is Pet Insurance So Important? ❤️🐾

Our pets are family—and when the unexpected happens, the last thing we want to worry about is whether we can afford the care they need.

🐶🐱 Accidents can happen suddenly.
🩺 Unexpected illnesses can require ongoing treatment.
💰 Veterinary costs can add up quickly.
❤️ Pet insurance can help reduce the financial stress of unexpected veterinary bills.

Having cover in place before your pet needs it can give you greater peace of mind and help you focus on what matters most: getting your furry family member the care they need. 🐾

Every policy is different, so always check the waiting periods, exclusions, limits, excesses, and level of cover before choosing a policy.
So this September, make an effort to look into securing cover or just checking your current policy.

Because when it comes to our pets, being prepared can make all the difference. 🐾💕

Did you know that over 80% of dogs and 70% of cats over 3 years suffer from some degree of dental disease? Dogs and cats can be stoic creatures, and even pets with sore gums, an infected mouth and broken teeth will continue to eat; our pet’s will often not show pain.
Signs of dental disease include:
• Bad breath (halitosis)
• Decreased appetite and/or avoiding hard foods
• Pawing at the mouth
• Red or inflammed gums
• Stained teeth or tartar
• Hypersalivation
We not only want to keep your pet’s mouth free from pain, but also ensure that their mouth stays healthy to prevent any oral infections. Bacteria from infections may enter the bloodstream and cause damage to your pet’s liver, kidneys, or heart. We are committed to the health of your pets and that is why, for the month of August, Darwin Vet Hospital is offering FREE dental checks with our nurses, PLUS 15% off all dental procedures.
Call us on 08 8927 9033 to book your FREE dental check today

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
🦠PARVOVIRUS

📍Unfortunately there have been multiple recorded cases of Canine Parvovirus in and around Darwin.
🦠Parvo virus is highly contagious and results in symptoms including vomiting, diarrhoea (often bloody), lethargy, reduced appetite and tummy pain. Symptoms progress quickly and even with treatment it can be fatal. It is also very costly to treat the infection
⏰The virus can survive a LONG time in the environment and favours hot, humid conditions. Once an environment is contaminated with this virus it often persists for a very very long time, so even if your dog doesn’t come into contact with other dogs it is important they stay protected.
💉 Luckily, parvo virus is easily preventable with vaccination! If your puppy has not completed its full puppy course, or if your adult dog is overdue we’d encourage you to book in with a vet to ensure that your canine companion is up to date with Vaccinations ASAP! 🐶
🦴 Please share with local friends and family: we are losing too many dogs to this sad and preventable disease. 🥺😢

📞If you have any questions or would like to book your dog in for a vaccination call us on 08 8927 9033

🎉🐾 A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to our very own Dr Ari! 🐾🎉

We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate an incredible achievement — after many years of dedicated study, learning and clinical experience, Dr Ari has achieved MANZCVS Membership in Veterinary Behaviour! 🎓💙

Dr Ari is passionate about helping Darwin’s dogs (and cats!) feel happier, safer and more confident in their everyday lives. From anxiety and phobias to aggression, separation-related behaviours and everything in between, she takes a science-backed, holistic approach to behavioural medicine — combining medication when appropriate with behavioural modification and practical support for pets and their families. 🐶🐱🧠

Behaviour can be complex, and sometimes the things our pets do leave us scratching our heads! 🤔🐾

💭 Have you ever wondered…
🐕 Why does my dog bark at some dogs but not others?
🐈 Why does my cat suddenly hide when visitors arrive?
🐶 Is my dog’s separation anxiety getting worse?
🐕 Why does my dog react to certain sounds, people or situations?
🐱 What does it mean when my cat suddenly changes their behaviour?
🐾 Could medication help my pet’s anxiety or fear?

If you have ever asked yourself any of these questions then Dr Ari can help. To book a Behaviour Consultation please call us on 08 8927 9033

Once again, CONGRATULATIONS Dr Ari! 🥳👏 Your dedication, expertise and passion for helping animals truly shines through. We’re incredibly lucky to have you here at Darwin Vet Hospital, helping Darwin’s pets live their best lives. 💙🐾
