This year’s Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale was one for the books! 🎉

We were delighted to achieve exceptional results across the draft, highlighted by the $170,000 sale-topping filly by Pinatubo, a half-sister to stakes winner Yum out of Dream Food, who set a new sale record and will join her big sister in John McArdle’s stable.

Thank you to our loyal clients, hardworking team and everyone who supported the Armidale Stud draft throughout the sale. We look forward to following the progress of this year's graduates and wish all connections every success with their Armidale yearlings.

He’s a star ⭐️

Aristopolos made it five from five with another dominant display in the Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes at Launceston, powering clear to score by two lengths and secure his second stakes victory, extending his flawless record.

The Armidale Stud-bred c**t was sold through our Magic Millions Tasmania draft last year and is one of a growing list of stakes performers to emerge from our recents drafts this season.

Congratulations to trainer John Blacker and connections! 🥂

Another stakes winner for the honour roll! 🏆

Armidale-bred and sold 3YO Daytona Diva (Anders x Step The Pedal) has claimed victory in the Listed Aviso TAS Insurance Brokers Strutt Stakes at Hobart today for trainer John Blacker.

Jumping well, she settled just behind the leader before unleashing a strong finish at the 400m mark, pulling clear to win by almost 2 lengths.

With an impressive record of 4 wins and 3 placings from 8 starts, Daytona Diva was sold through our Magic Millions Tasmania draft to Tanya Hanson and we wish all of her connections the heartiest of congratulations!

Her stakes triumph comes hot on the heels of Aristopolos’ dominant 8.5-length win in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on Friday, keeping his unbeaten streak alive after his win in the Listed Elwick Stakes last start.

He’s unstoppable 🔥

Armidale bred 2YO c**t Aristopolos has kept his unbeaten record intact, making it four straight wins with a dominant performance in today’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Hobart, charging away to score by a staggering 8.5 lengths.

Trained by John Blacker he went into the race off a last-start victory in the Listed Elwick Stakes and took another significant step forward with a dazzling display.

Sold through our Magic Millions Tasmania draft, Aristopolos is the second foal to race and second winner from our stakes-placed mare Flying Krupt.

Flying Krupt has since produced a c**t by King’s Gambit last spring and is currently in foal to our exciting freshman sire Bodyguard.

All of us here at Armidale Stud extend our heartfelt congratulations to his connections, and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for him next!

A huge congratulations to the connections of Armidale-bred and sold Aristopolos, who kept his unbeaten record intact with a stakes-level victory in Sunday’s Listed Kevin Sharkie Elwick Stakes.

After a six-length demolition in his first trial, he quickly backed it up with a maiden win before adding further success to remain a perfect three-from-three. The talented 2YO c**t is the second foal to race and second winner from stakes-placed Flying Krupt, and we’re excited to see what the future holds.

NEWS: Full Needs Further Brothers Deliver Star Stakes Double

Five-year-old Needs Further gelding Durazzo continued his domination of Tasmanian summer racing at Hobart on Sunday, securing his third straight stakes victory with a strong performance in the $125,000 Listed Kevin Sharkie The Inevitable Stakes (1600m) for Star Thoroughbreds.

The win adds further weight to the remarkable family story, with Durazzo and fellow rising star Mazzini both being full brothers by resident Armidale stallion Needs Further, and it puts welcome attention on their yearling half-sister heading to the 2026 Magic Millions Tasmania Sale.

Carrying the Star Thoroughbreds silks, the Barry Campbell-trained galloper, partnered again by regular rider Kelvin Sanderson, was composed throughout and sprinted clear to score by half a length over the ever-honest Just Cruisin’.

Powerful through the line, Durazzo has now built an imposing record of 11 wins and two placings from just 15 starts, with prizemoney nudging $580,000.

A $97,500 Magic Millions Tasmania purchase for Star Thoroughbreds/Randwick Bloodstock Agency, Durazzo was bred by Armidale Stud and is the standout performer among three winners from winning Not A Single Doubt mare Arenzano, who hails from the family of Group 1-winning sire Super Seth.

Earlier in the program, Star Thoroughbreds enjoyed further stakes success with another rising star, Mazzini, the full brother to Durazzo. Trained by Barry Campbell and ridden by Kelvin Sanderson, Mazzini backed up his recent victory in the $75,000 BWS 3YO Trophy (1400m) with a dominant display to capture the $125,000 Listed Tasmanian Guineas (1600m).

Starting a short-priced favourite, he powered away to win by more than three lengths, taking his tally to five wins from six starts and pushing earnings past $219,000. The runner-up spot in the Guineas went to Crack The Shutters, bred and raced by Armidale and partners, who chased bravely behind the exciting winner.

A huge congratulations to all winning connections. All of us here at Armidale could not be happier with the results and we are incredibly proud to see our horses, our stallion and our partners enjoying such success! 🥂

Armidale Stud graduates had a night to remember in Launceston, and we couldn’t be prouder!

The evening kicked off in great style with Armidale-bred 2YO Aristopolos (St Mark’s Basilica x Flying Krupt), who backed up his impressive six-length trial win with a confident victory on debut. He was sold through our Tasmanian Magic Millions draft to his trainer John Blacker and is certainly one to watch!

Then the Needs Further express rolled in...

Exciting 3YO Mazzini (ex Arenzano) claimed the $75,000 BWS 3YO Trophy by 2.5 lengths. A $145,000 purchase from our Tasmanian draft and the 2024 sale-topper, he was bought by long-time client and friend, Denise Martin of Star Thoroughbreds and Randwick Bloodstock.

Then his full brother Durazzo added another black type win to his ledger with victory in the $125,000 Listed Conquering Stakes. Also bred and sold by Armidale, and purchased by Star Thoroughbreds and Randwick Bloodstock Agency, he now has 10 wins and two seconds from 14 starts on his impressive resume. We’re excited to see his half-sister by Brutal feature in our 2026 Magic Millions draft (Lot 70).

Eaglefurther, a 4YO Alpine Eagle mare, out of the Needs Further mare Furtheronova, continued the success, taking out Race 4 on the card.

Then, to round out the night, our own Crack The Shutters, an Alpine Eagle filly bred and part-owned by Armidale, produced another brave effort, finishing second to Mazzini and extending her incredible record of never finishing later than second in her seven starts.

A huge congratulations to all connections. Nights like this are a wonderful reminder of what can happen when good horses, good people, and plenty of hard work come together 🌟

What a weekend for Armidale stallions!

Alpine Eagle filly Crack The Shutters, part-owned by Armidale and raced in our colours, lit up the track in The Baker Group Cup (1200m), stopping the clock in a blistering 1:09.39, faster than the night’s feature, the Listed Newmarket Handicap. Our talented, stakes-performed 3YO has now won or placed in all six of her starts and is absolutely flying with three consecutive wins for trainer Stuart Gandy.

And the momentum didn’t stop there. Durazzo (Needs Further) continued his domination, claiming his 9th win from just 13 starts in the Listed Jackson's Security Newmarket Handicap later that evening. Purchased by Denise Martin’s Star Thoroughbreds and Brett Howard from our Tasmanian Magic Millions draft, he has now added a second black-type victory to his record.

Alpine Eagle continued his hot run of form into Sunday, recording a treble at Hobart, with Alpine Cowgirl, Sh’bourne Midnight and Alpine Thunder all saluting. It followed his treble at Launceston on Friday where Wolf Junior and Alisent joined Crack The Shutters in the winner’s circle.

A huge congratulations to all connections, an outstanding night for our boys! 💫

Congratulations to all involved! What a thrill to watch this exciting horse!
