A few weeks ago, on that 43-degree scorcher here in Melbourne, a very pregnant mumma cat walked up the driveway of one of my clients… looking for food, shelter, and a little bit of love. ☀️🐾 (Look at that belly!)
I was staying there at the time and checked in with the client to see if she was owned or a local stray. It turned out she was part of a colony. On a day like that, we couldn’t just turn her away.
We jumped into action - Picked up a crate, cooling mat, cooling water bowls, and stocked up on food to keep her (and her growing babies) as comfortable and nourished as possible while we organised rescue support.
Thankfully, stepped in to help. And now… we’ve received photos of her and her beautiful kittens, all safe and sound. 🥹💛 Who knows how many litters she’d had before these new kittens?
Swipe to see her being an amazing mumma for the LAST time! She printed one of each colour 🥰♥️
How lucky is Lola Cat? She found the right driveway, on the right day, with people who understood just how dangerous extreme heat can be, and an incredible rescue to carry her the rest of the way.
Thank you to The Rescue Club for everything you do for cats like Lola.
If you ever find yourself with a mum and kittens who need help, there are options. Programs like the Last Litter Program support owners by desexing mum and helping place the kittens in new families, often at little to no cost to you.
Sometimes all it takes is one hot day, one open driveway, and a few people willing to care. 💛
