After much anticipation, the time has finally arrived for a long-awaited and very well-deserved family holiday!

Please be advised that Casey Reay – Small Animal Boarding will be closed from 12th October through to 1st November, as we take some precious time away to relax, recharge and, most importantly, create beautiful memories together as a family.

While caring for your beloved little companions is something we truly adore, we also believe in the importance of slowing down and cherishing those special moments with our own loved ones.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our wonderful clients for your continued trust, kindness and support. It is an absolute privilege to care for your treasured little family members.

THE PETAL FLEUR GUESTBOOK | Luna

Please join us in welcoming our beautiful guest in residence, Luna, to The Petal Fleur Boutique.

Luna is a gentle little soul with a beautifully quiet nature. She can be a little shy at first, preferring to take her time as she settles into new surroundings and gets to know the people around her.

But once Luna feels comfortable, safe and secure, her sweet personality begins to shine through. She adores a gentle head scratch between those lovely lop ears and, if you’re particularly lucky, a soft rub beneath her chin.

There is something rather special about earning the trust of a quiet bunny. With Luna, it’s all about allowing her to set the pace and offering her the space to observe, settle and decide when she’s ready for affection. And when she does choose to come a little closer, it makes those small moments all the more precious.

For now, Miss Luna is settling beautifully into boutique life, surrounded by all the comforts of home and receiving plenty of gentle attention on her own terms.

A LITTLE MORNING REFRESH

Petal’s room had a little freshen up this morning.

Fresh floors, a tidy and refreshed space, enrichment reset and everything returned to its place, ready for the day ahead.

Creating a beautiful space for a rabbit isn’t simply about how it looks. It’s about giving them somewhere they can feel safe and comfortable, with plenty of opportunities to explore, forage, rest and simply enjoy being themselves.

And while there are plenty of carefully chosen spaces for Petal to settle, the lounge remains her favourite. It’s where she stretches out, relaxes and bonds with her humans- particularly when Dad joins her with his cup of tea. Those quiet little moments of companionship are very much part of her daily routine.

Petal’s room has evolved over time as I’ve learnt more about what she enjoys and how she uses her space and I love finding little ways to make it even better for her.

Fresh, calm and ready for another day.

THE WELLBEING EDIT | The Importance of Appetite

There are few things quite as delightful as the sound of a rabbit discovering that something delicious has arrived. The rustle of a treat packet, the sudden appearance at your feet, or that very familiar look that says, “I believe you have something for me.”

But beyond being one of their sweetest little traits, a rabbit’s enthusiasm for food can tell us a great deal about how they are feeling.

Rabbits are naturally frequent eaters, so a noticeable change in appetite should never be dismissed as simply being fussy. Refusing a favourite treat, eating more slowly than usual, leaving food behind or showing little interest in hay can all be signs that something isn’t quite right.

This is why knowing your own rabbit’s normal is so important.

Notice the little things- how eagerly they come for breakfast, how much hay they usually consume, which foods disappear first and even the times of day they tend to eat most.

When you know their everyday habits, subtle changes become much easier to recognise.

And appetite isn’t something we should consider in isolation. Changes in eating accompanied by fewer or smaller droppings, unusual posture, lethargy, hiding, tooth grinding or other changes in behaviour deserve particular attention.

Because rabbits can become seriously unwell when they stop eating, a significant reduction in appetite or stopping eating altogether warrants prompt advice from a rabbit savvy veterinarian.

Sometimes, the smallest change in routine can be the first little clue that our rabbits need us.

At The Petal Fleur Boutique, we believe beautiful care begins with observation- knowing the little habits, preferences and quirks that make every rabbit wonderfully individual.

Because knowing their normal helps us recognise when something isn’t.

INTERNATIONAL RABBIT DAY | 2026

Today, we celebrate the quiet charm, gentle souls and wonderfully cheeky personalities of the little companions who have such a remarkable way of making themselves a very big part of our lives.

Rabbits may be small, but anyone fortunate enough to share their world knows just how much personality can be tucked behind those beautiful ears. They teach us patience, trust and the joy found in the simplest things- a contented flop, an enthusiastic binky or a carefully selected piece of hay.

International Rabbit Day is also a beautiful opportunity to celebrate responsible rabbit ownership- providing appropriate nutrition, enrichment, companionship, veterinary care and, above all, the time and understanding these sensitive little animals deserve.

And of course, it seemed only fitting that our very own Petal should lend her beautiful face to today's celebrations.

Here’s to happier rabbits, brighter days and a kinder world for every bunny.

A LITTLE DELIVERY FOR THE BOUTIQUE

There was a rather lovely delivery at The Petal Fleur Boutique today, with a few special treats arriving from Bunbun’s Toy Box.

We’ve restocked a firm favourite- the Berrynana Hay Topper, a beautiful forage style blend that can be sprinkled through hay to add a little extra interest, variety and encouragement to those all important foraging behaviours.

And because a little indulgence is sometimes called for, we’ve also added the Donut Sampler Pack to our enrichment collection. These gorgeous forage donuts offer different flavours, textures and scents for curious little noses to investigate and enjoy.

At The Petal Fleur Boutique, we love finding simple ways to make our guests’ stays that little bit more interesting. Enrichment doesn’t always need to be elaborate- sometimes it’s simply about introducing something new to sniff, forage through, nibble and explore.

Of course, treats are always offered thoughtfully and in moderation, taking into consideration the individual rabbit, their usual diet and any dietary requirements provided by their family.

We suspect our future guests in residence may be rather pleased with today's delivery.

The PETAL FLEUR GUESTBOOK | Ghost

It’s our absolute pleasure to welcome our guest in residence, the beautiful Ghost, to The Petal Fleur Boutique.

Ghost is such a beautiful little soul- incredibly sweet, wonderfully patient and quietly inquisitive. He has a lovely way of taking in his surroundings, watching what’s happening around him before curiosity inevitably gets the better of him and a little investigation is required.

There is such a gentleness about Ghost. With those magnificent ears, soft little expressions and his beautifully calm nature, he has been an absolute delight to have in residence.

One of the loveliest parts of welcoming a new guest is discovering all those little characteristics that make them uniquely them and we are thoroughly enjoying getting to know this gorgeous boy.

YES… THE RUMOURS ARE TRUE!

A little something new is coming to Casey Reay – Small Animal Boarding and I’m finally ready to let the bunny out of the bag.

Rabbit grooming will soon be joining our services.

As someone who believes that caring for rabbits requires knowledge, patience and an understanding of just how different they are from our more traditional pets, this isn’t something I wanted to simply “have a go” at.

I’m currently enrolled in a rabbit specific grooming course, allowing me to further develop my knowledge and practical skills in grooming rabbits safely, gently and with their individual wellbeing at the forefront.

My aim is to offer a calm, considered grooming experience for rabbits who may need a little assistance keeping themselves looking and, more importantly, feeling their best.

Once my training is complete, I’ll be sharing more about the grooming services that will be available, what they will include and how appointments will work.

It is our absolute pleasure to welcome our guest in residence, the very handsome Mr. Wilson, to The Petal Fleur Boutique.

With his beautiful snowy coat, gentle expression and wonderfully curious nature, Mr. Wilson has already brought a rather special presence to the Boutique.
