It’s the Reconciliation Day long weekend but Behaviour Training classes WILL be held this Sunday 31 May.
We look forward to seeing you and your four-legged friend all rugged up for the last day of autumn.
Italian Greyhound, Rapscallion, kept toasty warm on Wednesday while stretching to reach a target stick above her head. Can you see it? In the background other dogs practised rolling up and unrolling mats, nudging balls and going around barrels. All this and more are taught in our Companion Plus (Level 5) class on Wednesdays and Sundays.

It’s National Volunteer Week 2026 – a time to thank our many volunteers and to encourage other Club members to discover how volunteering helps the Club continue to do what it does.
Our most obvious volunteers are our wonderful instructors who take weekly classes in Behaviour Training, Trick Dog, Agility, Obedience Trialling, Flyball, Rally, Scent Work, Tracking and Dances With Dogs. Then there are our Dogs-As-Therapy teams who visits aged care residences and our Display Team who put on a show each October at Floriade. Our Main Committee and sub-committee members give their time to keep everything running behind the scenes – organising classes, hosting dog sports trials, co-ordinating grounds maintenance, managing our finances, posting on social media, maintaining training equipment, minimising waste, keeping us safe and secure, managing the shop and so much more. Volunteering is at the heart of the Club – and there are many ways to get involved. We especially need more members to help at our many dog sports trials – keeping track of entrants, providing refreshments, keeping scores, setting up equipment (and putting it away again) and much more. Whether you are just starting out in a sport or thinking about it, helping out at trials will help you see where your training will lead. And if you’ve been training for a while, please consider volunteering so that we can continue to offer the activities you value. It is absolutely true – many hands do make light work. Brand new Behaviour Training members didn’t let this morning’s overcast conditions dampen their commitment. It was the first week of Foundation classes for Sunday puppies and older dogs and there was a 100% turn out! We had some very excited - and some rather worried - adolescent dogs arrive for their first class but once handlers settled on their chairs and offered Kongs, LickiMats and other goodies to their dogs, a marvellous transformation happened … everyone relaxed. Well done to all our new members who started classes this week and welcome back to all our returning members. And, as always, a big “thank you” to our volunteer instructors for coaching and guiding members to develop their training skills this term.
