🐾 Happy Veterinary Nurse Day! 🐾

Friday 9th of October was Veterinary Nurse Day, and we took some time to celebrate our amazing nursing team!

There were fun decorations, fun scrubs, an incredible spread of homemade cookies, cupcakes and other delicious treats, and most importantly, a chance to give thanks, catch up and check in on each other.

Our vet nurses are undoubtedly an important part of our clinic and the care we provide to our clients. From providing comfort and compassion to our patients, assisting with complex procedures and surgeries, monitoring anaesthetics, providing nurse consults, supporting recoveries and reassuring worried pet parents. They truly do so much behind the scenes to keep all our pets happy, healthy and safe!

To our wonderful, hardworking nurses, your dedication, kindness, knowledge and passion make such a difference to our patients and their families and we are so lucky to have you on The Village Vet team! 💚

Dental Spotlight: Spike!

Spike came in for a routine scale and polish, his dental X-rays revealed tooth resorption affecting tooth '307' (one of his lower left back teeth.) . One root was still intact, while the other was resorbing.

What is tooth resorption? Tooth resorption is a common and often painful condition in cats where the body gradually breaks down the tooth structure. It can be difficult to detect during a routine examination, as damage may occur below the gumline.

How can you support your cat’s dental health?
-Regular tooth brushing
-Veterinary dental diets and suitable dental treats
-Health checks every 6–12 months

Cats are experts at hiding dental pain! Even teeth that look normal can have problems beneath the gumline. Regular dental examinations and dental X-rays when indicated are essential for keeping those purrs pain-free!

Wishing Spike a smooth recovery! 🐾 If you have any questions about your pets teeth and our experienced veterinarians dental cleanings, call us on 02 6113 9996.

💛 Are you OK?

Veterinary medicine is all about caring for others, but sometimes we forget to check in on the people doing the caring. 🐾

Thursday, 10 September was Are You OK? Day. Our team celebrated with a morning tea, some fun scrubs and most importantly a moment to connect, ask, listen, and check-in on one another.

It was a wonderful reminder of just how grateful we are for our amazing veterinarians, nurses and administration team, and for everything they do each and every day to care for our patients.

Our wonderful clients, thank you for your ongoing support, kindness and understanding you show our team. Enjoy this gorgeous photo of Louie, snuggled up with one of our caring nurses. 🐾

Don’t forget to check in with the people around you and ask the simple but important question: “Are you OK?”

Meet beautiful Crumpet!

Crumpet visited our wonderful team at The Village Vet for ongoing eye discharge and sneezing. These can sometimes be signs of allergies in our pets and with spring bringing pollen, dust and other allergens into the environment, it’s important to keep an eye out for changes in your furry friend!

There are a range of tests and treatment options available to help identify allergies and keep your pet comfortable and happy throughout the warmer months.
If you’ve noticed sneezing, itchy skin, watery or irritated eyes, or other changes in your pet, we’re here to help!

Call us on 02 6113 9996 or visit https://thevillagevet.co/ to book your next health check!

August is national pet dental health month and It’s the perfect time to give your pet’s teeth a little extra attention!

Beautiful Miette and her lovely octopus friend recently visited our amazing team at The Village Vet for a scale and polish, dental X-rays, and some teeth extractions.

We recommend booking a dental check every 6–12 months for most pets, along with regular at-home brushing ( just like we do for our own teeth! )

If you’d like to book your furry friend in for a dental, discuss ongoing dental care and pet friendly products, or have any questions, give our friendly team a call on 02 6113 9996.

A little prevention goes a long way! Keep those tails wagging and smiles shining with regular dental care.

Welcome to the team, Grace! 🐾

After completing her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2021, Grace took some time away from the veterinary industry before realising her passion for caring for animals never left.

Grace is now part of our reception team while gradually returning to veterinary nursing. She loves making sure every client and their beloved pets feel welcomed, comfortable, and cared for from the moment they walk through our doors.

We're so excited to have you as part of The Village Vet family, Grace!
