๐๐พ DUKE โ A SERIOUS MISHAP ๐๐ถ
Duke found himself in a world of hurt after tangling with a car โ and thankfully, he was one of the lucky ones who lived to tell the tail. ๐พโค๏ธ
Although Duke didnโt appear to have immediate life-threatening injuries, he was clearly in pain, unable to lift his tail and had several scrapes and lacerations.
His devoted owner rushed him to the team at **Curtin Vet**, where it was quickly determined that Duke needed urgent pain relief and X-rays to properly assess his injuries. ๐ฉบ๐ฉป
Like so many pet owners doing it tough, Dukeโs owner simply couldnโt afford the unexpected veterinary costs. ๐
Thankfully, the compassionate team at Curtin Vet submitted an application to ACT Pet Crisis Support (APCS), which was quickly approved. This meant Duke could receive the assessment and treatment he urgently needed. ๐๐พ
โ ๏ธ HIT BY A CAR? ๐ DONโT WAIT FOR SYMPTOMS TO APPEAR.
When a pet is hit by a vehicle, some injuries can be hidden beneath the surface. There may only be a few scrapes, cuts or abrasions on the outside, while serious injuries could be happening internally.
In Dukeโs case, his inability to lift his tail raised concerns about a possible injury to his tail, spine or pelvis - injuries that simply cannot be diagnosed by looking at the outside of the body.
๐จ If your pet is ever hit by a car or other vehicle, PLEASE have them assessed by a vet as soon as possible, even if they appear to be okay.
Some injuries may not be immediately obvious, and early veterinary assessment could make all the difference. โค๏ธ๐ถ
Weโre so grateful to the team at Curtin Vet for caring for Duke and to everyone who helps make emergency veterinary support possible for vulnerable pet owners. ๐พ๐
