THE MOMENT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 💙

He climbed onto my lap after 57 days of being my little hostage! 💙

He just walked over, climbed up and decided that apparently… I was the safe space now. 🥹

He wasn’t just tolerating me, he wanted to be close, he wanted a human friend…

Which does raise one slight problem…

Remember the original plan?

Trap. Desex. Vaccinate. Recover. RELEASE. 😬

🐾 MIGHTY – PART 18
THE DAILY GOSS

I’d sit. I’d talk. I’d tell Mighty about my day.

He’d come out of his carrier, eat his dinner, sit beside me, ask for pats & give swipes in return, all while listening to the latest human gossip like this was a perfectly normal arrangement. 🤣

And every day, he was growing more confident.💙

In fact, I’m pretty sure he’d started waiting for me to arrive with the daily gossip. 😂😼

🐾 MIGHTY – PART 17
THE BANDAID BUDGET IS IMPROVING 🩹

The human hands had officially been introduced…👏🏼

And somehow, they were still attached to the human.😅

The little pats were becoming more frequent, the swipes were becoming less frequent…

There were still rules where the murder mittens could be activated…
Move too fast? SWIPE.
Pat for one second too long? CHOMP.

But every day, there were more pats…
…and one less Bandaid. 🩹😂

He wasn’t quite ready to admit he liked me yet, but the evidence was starting to stack up. 💙

🐾 MIGHTY – PART 16
WHAT ARE YOU DOING OUT THERE? 👀

For weeks, Mighty had been perfectly happy for his carrier to mark the boundary of his little world whenever humans were around.

✅ His safe place.
✅ His rules.
✅ His distance.

And then… curiosity started winning. 👀

One day, he just walked out. 🐈‍⬛
To supervise. 🤣

By this point, I was clocking up some serious hours sitting on the bathroom floor. 😂

But we do everything at Mighty’s pace. 🐾❤️
And lately, Mighty’s pace seems to be getting just a little bit braver.

🐾 MIGHTY– PART 15
REAL HANDS 👋🏻😬

❗️The plastic hand is confiscated most days.
❗️The mitten had been confiscated weeks ago with no return.
😆Apparently Mighty had decided all protective equipment was now his property.

So… there was only one thing left.
Enter the real hands. 😳

With a packet of Band-Aids permanently stationed nearby, it was time to see if Mighty might let us get just a little bit closer.

😱He was still scared!
😱I was still scared!
😅There were a few very quick withdrawals of the human hand to ensure all 10 fingers stayed attached.

But something was changing, and we were both actually making progress.

Real hand pats had officially begun. ❤️

ENTER… THE MITTEN 🧤

Plastic hand: confiscated by Mighty!
So we tried Plan B.
The mighty mitten 🤣

💙Something soft that would let us gently touch him while still keeping nervous human fingers safe.

The theory was solid! 💪🏻
The reality….🙈
A packet of bandaids was kept close by🩹

Mightys response?
He confiscated that too!

Plastic Hand: Mightys
Mitten: Mightys
Human Fingers: Under negotiations!🤣

🐾 MIGHTY – PART 12
ENTER… THE PLASTIC HAND ✋🏻🤣

How do you start interacting with a frightened street cat when he’d prefer you stayed approximately 14 kilometres away? 🤨

Meet the plastic hand.✋🏻

From a nice safe distance, we began offering Mighty the gentlest little plastic hand pats.

By now I had discovered there were two very different versions of our mighty boy…

🎥On the cameras:
Mighty King of his personal bathroom.👑

💃🏼When a human walked in:
Little Mouse who stayed in his carrier 🐭

So every day, week after week, I sat with him.
✅Talked to him.
✅Let him listen to my voice.
✅Let him talk back ( or hiss back 🤣)
✅No pressure.
✅No expectations.
✅No rushing him.

But maybe, little by little, our Mouse might just start to show us his Mighty side
🐭➡️🦁

🐾 MIGHTY – PART 11

PLEASE STAY OVER THERE 😂

Mighty was settling into bathroom life…
But he wanted to make one thing VERY clear:

✅Room service is appreciated.
❌Physical contact is not. 😂
✅You can watch me from the cameras and deliver my food please!

If I got too close, Mighty had absolutely no problem letting me know.
Back off, lady. ✋🐈‍⬛

🐾 MIGHTY – PART 10

THE LUXURY BATHROOM SUITE 🛁

Mighty had graduated from his recovery crate and moved into his very own…
Luxury private bathroom suite. 😂

✅Warm bed.
✅Endless food.
✅Fresh water.
✅Room service.
✅Private facilities.
Five stars, surely? ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We started seeing just how exhausted he really was.

🗑️No industrial bins.
🚙No cars.
🦊No fox.
🤚🏼No watching his back.

For perhaps the first time in his little life, Mighty could simply close his eyes and sleep somewhere safe……And sleep he did.🥹
