Meet Twitch
Twitch is a fun-loving young Cattle Dog cross with a heart full of love and plenty of cuddles to give. Whether he's jumping into your lap for a snuggle or lying at your feet just to be close, Twitch loves being with his people.
Like many young cattle dogs, Twitch is alert, intelligent, motivated, and eager to please. He enjoys having a job to do and thrives on human interaction and positive reinforcement.
Twitch is currently living with a cat and does very well. While he will occasionally try to engage the cat in a game of chase, he responds well to correction and quickly settles.
He is also fantastic with children and loves being involved in their activities, especially when there's a soccer ball involved! As with any young dog, Twitch can become excited and occasionally needs reminders to calm down and regulate his enthusiasm.
Some behaviours that are still a work in progress.
When Twitch first came into care, he was very underweight and food insecure, which led to him constantly searching for food. As he continues to settle and learns that meals are always guaranteed, this behaviour is already improving. His love of food also makes him highly trainable, and he is already learning commands such as sit, stay, drop, shake, and wait.
Mouthing is a common behaviour in young cattle dogs, and Twitch will occasionally mouth hands during periods of excitement. He is learning that this behaviour is not acceptable and is making great progress. As always, supervision around young children is essential, as unexpected mouthing during play may be frightening for little ones.
Twitch absolutely loves walks and can become very excited when it's time to head out. He is currently learning to walk calmly on lead and is improving with consistency and ongoing training.
Twitch would thrive in a home with another friendly dog to keep him company, as he can become lonely when left alone for long periods during the day. He would also love a family who will include him indoors for evening cuddles before bedtime, as being close to his humans is one of his favourite things.
Twitch is a loving, clever, and affectionate young dog who is ready to find a family committed to continuing his training and giving him the love and companionship he craves.
Twitch is $350 to adopt and comes desexed, microchipped, C5 vaccinated and given flea, tick and worm preventatives.
