🦜💚 Teddy’s Wing Transformation! 💚🦜

Meet Teddy, the beautiful macaw who came to see Dr Melissa and Nurse Steph last week for a special procedure called imping! 🪶

Poor Teddy has an old wing injury that has resulted in osteoarthritis, causing ongoing discomfort. Unfortunately, birds experiencing pain or irritation can sometimes develop self-harming behavior's, including pulling out their own feathers.

Teddy’s mum brought him to see Dr Melissa to explore ways to improve his quality of life. After discussing his condition and treatment options, Dr Melissa performed an imping procedure to help restore the appearance of Teddy’s wing, while continuing to manage the discomfort associated with his arthritis.

The result? A fantastic success!

Dr Melissa carefully implanted 13 donor feathers to help create Teddy’s beautiful new wing! Just look at the incredible before-and-after transformation. 🦜

A huge shout-out to Dr Melissa and Nurse Steph for helping Teddy through his procedure and providing him with wonderful care. And of course, a big thank you to Teddy’s mum for being so proactive in seeking the best possible care for her feathered family member. ❤️

While imping doesn't treat the underlying arthritis, it can help support feather recovery when combined with appropriate pain management and ongoing care.

We have had an exotic animal handed in to the clinic, and we’re sure this little one belongs to someone who is missing their beloved pet. ❤️

If you think you may be missing an exotic pet, please contact the clinic as soon as possible.

💗 PIXIE THE PRECIOUS PUG! 💗
