Day Four of our trip south stated with a rain shower at Eumundi. There was periodic showers through the morning which meant caution was needed in the traffic and on the highway. It was great relief to be welcomed by Paul. Kerrie and Arabella at their beautiful home outside of Lismore.

As you may know, I can no longer continue in the role of Coordinator for the Black Dog Ride in Cairns. We desperately need that role filled to continue the important work which has been done in our area. Paul Cane has offered to share the role. He even has an exciting destination to put forward for the 2027 BDR One Dayer. So if you’re able to give some of your time or know someone else that could fit the role, please contact me and I’ll arrange and introduction to Paul. This role isn’t that hard and it comes with some dedicated and reliable volunteers who will help make the role enjoyable and rewarding.

Once again this year Ausarmourfest has again been roaring fund raising success for Black Dog Ride - Cairns. The thousands of dollars, we made from this event, will boost the BDR Community Grants Program. These monies are available Australia wide to fund groups dealing with mental health problems and are readily available upon application. I’d like to personally thank Rob Louden, his family and crew(including numerous volunteers) for their continuing support for our cause.
Rotary Cairns West also deserve acknowledgment for their generous donation every year.
On a more personal note, I am unable to continue in the position of Coordinator for BDR Cairns. The gentleman that was to take over the role, sadly passed away. So now we need a new leadership. This role does not need to be place on the shoulders of one person. In deed, a group would be welcome to take it on. Cairns BDR has been running for more than 10 years now. During that time we have gathered reliable group of volunteers who intend to continue doing so. For my part, I am willing to assist a new coordinator or group to run next years One Dayer. Support and advice is also available from our Australia wide leadership team as well as our State Coordinator.
So if you or your group are interested, I am available to discuss what is needed. Please message me through the Black Dog Ride - Cairns page. You are welcome to phone me on: 0439 487878 as well.
