5 signs your chooks need more calcium...πŸ₯š
If your hens aren't getting enough calcium, their bodies will often show warning signs long before a serious health problem develops. Calcium is essential for eggshell production, strong bones, muscle function, and overall flock health.

βœ… 1. Thin, soft, or fragile eggshells
This is often the first and most obvious sign. Hens need large amounts of calcium to build eggshells, and a deficiency can result in soft-shelled, thin-shelled, or easily cracked eggs.

βœ… 2. Declining egg production
When calcium levels are too low, hens may lay fewer eggs or stop laying consistently. Calcium plays a key role in the laying process and reproductive health.

βœ… 3. Weak legs or difficulty walking
If a hen isn't getting enough dietary calcium, her body may start drawing it from her bones. Over time, this can lead to weakness, lameness, and an increased risk of fractures.

βœ… 4. Egg-binding or trouble laying eggs
Calcium supports proper muscle contractions needed to lay eggs. Low calcium levels can contribute to egg-binding and prolonged laying time, both of which can become serious health concerns.

βœ… 5. Egg eating or increased pecking behaviour
Chickens instinctively seek nutrients they are lacking. Calcium-deficient hens may start pecking at or eating eggs to recover needed minerals.

πŸ’‘ Laying hens need a minimum of 3.5% calcium per day!

T&R's laying feeds contain high levels of balanced calcium to meet the daily requirements of laying hens.

Did you know a healthy gut = a stronger immune system?

One of the biggest contributors to immune health is actually digestive health. Around 80% of all active immune cells are in a bird's gut, so keeping it healthy helps chickens better respond to everyday challenges, from changes in weather to environmental stress.

There is also some exciting research to show that a better microbiome can actually stimulate and improve the anti-viral response.

That's why our poultry feeds all contain Diamond V XPC Ultra. It is a research-backed postbiotic that helps support gut integrity, strengthen natural immune function, and promote overall flock resilience. Unlike probiotics, postbiotics don't rely on live microbes, making them stable, consistent and effective in every bag of feed.

Combined with quality nutrition, fresh water, good hygiene and sound flock management, supporting gut health gives your birds the best opportunity to stay healthy and perform at their best.

Because healthy chickens don't just happen, they're fed that way.
