Meet Frankie! 🐾

This tiny little Italian Greyhound came in for his vaccination and was quite possibly the cutest little patient we’ve had in our hands! 🥹

Frankie was so teeny, he practically fit in the palm of our hands. 🥰

Safe to say, we were all a little bit obsessed! 💚

Bird flu is making headlines, so Better Homes & Gardens asked Greencross Vets what it means for our pets.

Greencross Vets veterinarian Dr Nina shares practical advice to help pet parents understand the risks and take simple precautions.

“Bird flu can infect all mammals, so dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets can all be infected.”

From avoiding contact with sick or dead wildlife to keeping cats indoors and dogs on a leash around wildlife, a few simple steps can help reduce exposure.

🖤 A majestic visitor who never should have needed a trip to the vet.

This beautiful black swan was found with a fishing hook stuck in its mouth - a painful and completely preventable injury caused by discarded fishing gear.

Removing the hook required a general anaesthetic, along with pain relief to keep this feathered patient comfortable while we treated them. 🦢

A reminder to all anglers: please take your fishing line, hooks and tackle home with you or use a designated disposal bin. The Victorian Fisheries Authority advises that old fishing line should be placed in bins, or if there are no bins available, taken home, cut up and disposed of in general waste. Their Seal the Loop program also provides dedicated bins for unwanted fishing line, hooks, netting and rope. (VFA)

Discarded fishing gear can cause entanglement, injury and even death to wildlife. A few extra seconds to dispose of your gear properly can make a huge difference. 💔

🎣 Fish responsibly. Dispose responsibly. Protect our wildlife. A big thanks for the wildlife careers for bringing this amazing swan in and thanks to our team for helping 🫶🏼

This big cutie JASPER 🐶 came in today to see us for X-rays. The picture says it all right?

YES this cheeky boy ate a T-shirt and required some X-rays to make sure it was not stuck in his belly! Lucky for him surgical intervention was not required and he was able to pass the pieces by himself.

Occasionally, the item ingested is small and smooth enough to pass through the gastrointestinal tract without causing damage or becoming lodged.

If your worried about your pet swallowing something they shouldn’t have keep an eye on any signs of Vomiting, Diarrhea or Abdominal tenderness or pain. Let your VET know as soon as possible.

We were so happy to help this gorgeous boy today! 🐾🐶🐾

Saska the gorgeous labrador came into Burleigh Waters to have a TTO Surgery.

The Triple Tibial Osteotomy is a surgical procedure used to treat dogs that have completely or partially ruptured the cranial cruciate ligament in one or both of their knees.

She was such a brave girl and is recovering well!

How Cute Is Boston 🐾🐶🐾

We certainly love our cuddles and your pet will definitely receive them when visiting us at Burleigh Waters! Boston is here with our wonderful veterinarian Dr Josie Hartono.

Boston has just had his final vaccination ! 💉

A tailored vaccine program can be developed with your Greencross Vets team.

🐾6 to 8 weeks old – first vaccination
🐾10 to 12 weeks old – second vaccination
🐾14 to 16 weeks old – third vaccination

Maintaining your dog’s vaccination program will help to ensure that your canine companion stays safe and continues to be protected from diseases like parvovirus, distemper, canine cough, and hepatitis.

Let’s introduce Roxy & Rusty! 🐶

🌞 Roxy came in for a Dental :

More than 85% of dogs and cats over four years old have some form of periodontal disease. There are various signs you can look out for such as

⭐️Bad Breath
⭐️Discoloured teeth
⭐️Loose teeth
⭐️Excessive drooling, sometimes blood stained inflamed gums.

If you think your pet is showing any signs of gum disease it is important that treatment is started immediately before any irreversible damage occurs.

🌞 Rusty came in for a Lumpectomy :

Lumps on pets are more common in older pets, however, younger animals can sometimes get them as well. They are often harmless, but sometimes they are a sign that something may be wrong. Don’t ignore lumps that you find on your pet.

It is recommended that you check your pet’s body on a regular basis. This will allow you to become more familiar with what’s normal, and recognise any changes that occur.

Contact us @ Greencross Burleigh Waters to have your pet checked 🙂
