Andrew and I have been so touched by all of your lovely messages, kind words and encouragement following our Family Business Association award announcement.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to congratulate us and share in such a special moment. It really does mean the world.

After such a big week, we hope you've enjoyed some precious time with your own families this weekend.

Sometimes it's the simplest moments together that mean the most.

We wanted to share this beautiful little video with you, the first in a series celebrating our family, our home here in Bundaberg and the people and place we love so much.

We have some very special news to share! 🥳
Macadamias Australia and Farmfresh Fine Foods have been named the 2026 Family Business Association Established Family Business – Queensland winner.
Our family business story began right here in Bundaberg in 1958 and, almost 70 years later, continues across the second and third generations.
There have been plenty of adventures and changes along the way, but one thing that hasn’t changed is how incredibly lucky we are to have wonderful people sharing the journey with us.
To our team, customers, growers, suppliers, partners and everyone who has supported our businesses over the years – thank you. You have all played a part in the story that has brought us here today.
We’re enormously proud of where we’ve come from, very excited about what comes next and incredibly grateful to have our family’s journey recognised in this way.
And the story continues! As the Queensland winner, we’ll now progress to the Australia & New Zealand Family Business Association Excellence Awards in Darwin in June 2027.

Meet Janelle Gerry, Owner, Director and pioneer behind Macadamias Australia.

Building a family business is a story measured in years, generations and plenty of hard work along the way.

We sat down with Janelle to reflect on the early days of Macadamias Australia, what it took to build the business, and the experience of working alongside family as it has grown.

This World Tourism Day, we’re celebrating something very close to home.

For years, people would arrive at the farm wanting to know more.

Where do macadamias come from?
How are they grown?
Can we see the trees?
Can we taste them?
Can we buy some to take home?

Those questions eventually became part of the reason we opened the doors and created the Macadamias Australia Visitor Experience here in Bundaberg.

Today, a visit can take you from the orchard and our family story, through to cracking and tasting macadamias, learning how they’re grown and produced, sitting down at The Orchard Table, and visiting the Farmgate Shop before you leave.

For us, tourism is another way of sharing where our food comes from, the people behind it, and a little piece of the region we’re very proud to call home.
